I'll be starting 9 plants in my small grow closet.
Whatever is left (females) are going outside (if it is over 4 plants) and the others are staying in the closet.

I know this isn't the ideal situation but I am thinking an 18/6 cycle would be best of both worlds as the "extra" plants would not be so shocked with the move outside. They would be use to a dark period rather than if I ran continuous light. The 4 remaining could stay on an 18/6 until finished.

Ideas? Thanks

You should take care in putting them outside in direct sun, burns them. I put mine under 50% shade cloth and it works great. You can also put them under trees, some shady place and get them use to the sun slowly. Peace...

In my experience 18/6 works great. And if you plant in around the solstice they get plenty big.

The monster photo plants are usually vegged for a few weeks to a few months at 16/8 and put outside much earlier in the season . Sometimes they start budding and will reveg but the bush insanely when this happens.
Good luck amigo
