Grow Mediums A-Train needs info on the coco for future run... help a brother out.

@Fantasy Island I found the coco grow do you have to rinse or anything or just mix with water and place in pots. I'll be going 50/50 perlite mix

I did mix with water but I won't next time. It was a huge pain in the ass. Next time I'll just soak it to get it to expand and then when I fill the pots Ill rinse with Phd water and finish with calmag and voodoo juice.

:jointman: A-T, what's good my friend? I'm trying to find you some helpful articles on coco,... even though I've not used coco before, I find I'm having to bone up as well because of the increasing problems showing up in the Infirmary with folks using it, but treating it like more or less like soil, which invariably leads to troubles! It's CEC is unique, especially concerning Ca, and to a lesser degree, Mg,... double check with Hans, and the Auto Pot site too, on the coco : perlite blend, 50/50 might be too much-? .... Truu is another coco nut here,...

He sent me a ton of info as well, but a public how to with photos would be awesome.

Ok guys the botanicare coco grow is in... now I need your help as far as pre charging with voodoo and cal mag. I have the 5kg brick it gives a reccomended amount of water to reconstitue. Should I mix the voodoo and cal mag in my bubbled tap water then pour into a storage tote then place the block in and begin to break it up?

@Fantasy Island @Waximus @Roark and anyone else please ypu opinions are much appreciated

Hey @A-Train with the bricks this is how I do it and have seen/learned from others on here,it may not be the way everyone does it ...put the brick into a tote and add water, you may need to agitate it to completely break it up so it can "fluff" up let it soak for a while, maybe 15-30 minutes, now you will need to rinse it cause it will have a lot of "fines" in it,put it in pots and run water thru till it comes out clear, some use a flushing agent and it cuts down rinse time.once it is rinsed it can be pre charged with the nute solution ,mix as normal( 1/4-1/2 strength)and run it thru the pots, most water/solution will drain rather quickly but the coco will stay moist for a few days..I've used both loose/pre buffered and bricks, they both work fine, even the brick without added pearlite..hope this helps..I am glad I made the switch to coco from soil, but that's just me...Peace bro!!

Yeah man, I soak the brick in regular water when it's all fluffed up I drain as much water I can then put the lid back on till needed. When needed. I'll load the pot and mix up full strength of voodoo and cal mag I save Grow A&B and b52 for the first watering after she sprouts and drys out some. Then I will run my phd ro water through the pot till clear then some more for good measure. then I flood the pot with the solution. At this point, I drop the bean in water and 24 hours later I place the bean in the pot.
