I agree with @Roark on this one ,the loose coco in the bags should be ph buffered and rinsed( not saying all are) ,so they save a few steps,time and water( but also cost more), most bagged stuff will have pearlite and this is for added aeration which will require more frequent watering ( this allows the media to be "oxygenated" more often) ...the bricks are fine to run straight,with no pearlite and I have done it this way on occasion ..sure you already know,but always water the coco with nutes( even if it's a lower amount) never straight water( till flush) never let it dry out,,and if your going with a drip system lower the ppm/EC..hands down the best coco thread I've read is from @Truu ..peaceI don't do any of that stuff. but that's cause I can get the bagged stuff.
I have used the brick stuff before. If I were doing it again I would follow directions on brick or rehydryate as suggested, by the others. I add cal to every rez so I don't precharge.
