Hey guys. Going over a new setup in my shed that I am planing on running. The only issue I have is that Im not sure about the A/C hot exhaust. Im building a box for my window unit and having the unit inside my shed and exhausting the hot air out either through the floor or towards the roof. Here is a picture of what I have so far. Box and plenum will be sealed. room.jpg

I was wondering if you guys think that the 6" can fan would be enough to vent the hot air out of the plenum? Its only going to be a 6000btu window unit with possibly up to an 8000btu. Ive seen people that do box AC and they just have 10-12" ports off the back with just ducting out to a different area with no fans so im just wondering if a small fan like this would work. Thanks!

It all boils down to numbers. What is the output in CFM of the A/C unit? Once you know that then you need to size the fan to match or exceed that number.

Yea i realized that but im not sure how to find out the output of the rear fan from the unit. I guess i need to rip it apart and figure out if it will work.

A six to eight thousand BTU window unit should have around 200 CFM. There are 400 cfm per ton of refrigerant (12,000 buts)

hope this helps...

Awesome thank you dirt weed! This is exactly what I was looking for!
