was just wondering if anyone thinks it would work or just be a waste of leccy.

currently got a 400w hps in a cool hood but with 4 bushy autos so was wondering if I should stand up a spare 300w cfl I have in between the 4 plants for some extra lighting?

There should be some benefit to it ... :headbang:

I run a 600 watt HPS and a 250 watt HPS plus I use about 4 or 5 CFL's for side lighting in every grow . I can tell a big difference as I don't have the late buds like I use to.

I'd like to hijack this thread just a bit, if I may :) .. i just wanted to open a thread with almost the same title so.. i guess it cant hurt to ask here.

I have a DIY growbox, dimensions H=80 cm, W=60 cm, L=50 cm. Light setup is 150W HPS with cool tube. Current plan is to grow 4 plants in there. I was wondering if maybe I could add 1 CFL to the setup, maybe something like this.
I'm not sure will that help to have more efficient flowering, and since i never grew with CFLs before, i am not sure where exactly to put them (i have very limited space in the box obviously). Also, I'm not sure will they create heat problems.

I'd really like to hear some suggestions based on experiences with similar setups maybe?

I always hang my cal lights were they shine at about the middle of the bud down towards her the bottom. To grow4 plants with a 150 watt you might want to get more than 1 cfl Like 3 or4. And heat isn't a big problem with cfl's.

Some people suggested I have really too small space for 4 plants, and for adding new CFL lights, heck they even said that the optimum would be just ONE plant! What do you peeps think?

Hey blackstar, your setup is very similar to mine actually. I grow 2 plants in my cab under a 150w hps (i started with cfls) and it fits my needs. Check out my journals if you like in my sig.
As for adding cfls along side the hps, I was also thinking this, the only place you could put them is probably at the top because from my previous grows the 2 plants touch all edges of the cab.
What ventilation have you got as well because it can get pretty warm in there?

I personally use a 400 watt hps & 2 t5 high output lights hung vertically to light the sides. I notice a difference for sure.. Just my 2 cents.

I run 1000W with 4x 42W CFL for side lighting. I have a corner spot with a nice low bud being deprived that I have a 42W CFL dropped on. The LUX reading without is around 11K, with the 42W CFL, the LUX reading is 24K.

I'm content with the $$ return. But get much more out of not watching a very nice "could be" dwarf out.
