Question for the big dogs @Eyes on Fire @Muddy @Ripper @pop22 or any other organic growers using AirPots.
Has anyone ever dipped an AirPot in a bucket of tea as a method of drench watering?
If so what was the result or is the answer: What? Are you stupid or something? Or, you damm well had been stoned when you asked this.

I have never done so and I feel like it would get the soil way to wet.

well I have never used pots but I have literally dunked full pots of soil in large buckets of feed or stabilizing waters. years I did that with annuals and per annuals with a cap full of B2 plant starter. same principle work on any medium such as soil. I am not that familiar with how they are designed but I understod it as over a dome that pump air into the upwards dome essentially..? fill with H2O as well. or verse a versa I suppose. if it empty of water and rinsed you certainly soak it assuming not electronics and the like were exposed and wet. or covered and coated to be protected. just thinking bout it lol dunno really.

Somewhat off topic but about still Airpots if I may ask... as I've picked up 2x 5 gallon Airpots but haven't filled the medium with soil yet. The bottom plastic piece seems so open like soil/perlite would just kinda fall through the little squares, maybe not terribly but...has anyone tried putting a small layer of clay pebbles for instance at the bottom before the soil?

I plan to put clay pebbles at the top as well, but I've seen recommendations from TaNg for instance about pushing the soil inward at the top layer (concaved) to help with water going towards the center. I always water slowly anyways in a circle so I don't think it'll be an issue. Any thoughts on any of this?

With AirPots, I cut a piece of common window screening (plastic, not metal) and use that to line the bottom. It doesn't affect air pruning. I've never seen roots popping out, circling or any other problems. This will better hold in your medium (I use coco and perlite). Fine powder will still fall through the screen, which is probably good so the medium does not get clogged. I generally use simple cheap repair screening, but have used finer mesh with no problems.

I found the round clay pebbles to not work as well as as screen - more medium falls out even with minimal handling. And you loose than much prime nutrient-rich medium/root space to the pebbles at the bottom. Otherwise, I elevated the Airpots a 1/2-inch or more so there was better air flow underneath.

I have used AirPots for 4 years now and have never had a problem with my soil leaking out the bottom. Don't worry the dirt clings together. Sure some sifts through when you are filling the AirPot but pack it gently. I fill my entire pot with my "homemade soil" and dig out the top center and put in potting mix for the new bean. Your soil will settle a little and pack the edges a little. I find when I am watering close to the edge I tip the pot so the water runs inward instead of leaking out the holes. I also put the bottom on the last row instead of the one above with the extended notches (more dirt that way). You'll soon get the feel for them. Same thing Tony says....."There're Great!!

Lot of people here use them. I don't like them but that's just me. I am hoever, a big fan of auto pots. I've not got much into teas yet. I've got my soil as I wish it, but now am learning how to grow under very intense COB grow lights, its a whole new world! Eyes on Fire is THE man on all things organic!

I've dipped not dunked fabric pots before....Never air pots but u would essentially be doing a manual flood and drain. Once upon a time I pondered a mechanical device to dip a flood table into a resivoir ...

As long as the medium has good drainage/ aeration ur fine. I've seen an article in high times w a dude that used water to flood trays of fabric containers running organic soil ,looked great [emoji3]
