Well I have to admit not been to Amsterdam.
I have been to the Nederlands and deliberately avoided the Dam, I went to several cities including Utrecht, Rotterdam, Apledoorn and Arnhem, plus some other small places, I also visited the De Hoge Veluwe National park.

This was back in the 90's and at the time there was no real internet to speak of, so I had with me my trusty copy of the mellow pages, The first proper booklet of coffee shop in Amsterdam and Nederlands.
The front half of the book was Amsterdam Coffee shops and the back was coffee shops in the rest of the Nederlands, it also had a Amsterdam map in the middle.

This is the first Edition and the one I took with me, in this first edition they had prices to expect, in later editions the prices were removed but still had a rough approximation of what might be on the menu.

I also still have the second edition of the mellow pages and it looks like this

there were two further edition, unfortunately I don't own these.

My Favorite coffee shop on my journey was in Arnhem and is called the Speak Easy, Super Skunk had just been released and the owner said it was good so bought some and yes it was awesome.
The guy was really friendly and if you ever visit Arnhem go have a smoke there, a really nice mellow place down a side street with a pool hall up the road a bit.
When I go back to the Nederlands, which is long overdue I want to go back and revisit this lovely coffee shop.

It's been a long time since i went to Amsterdam!
Back then Barneys was one my favourites, but things change over time - i guess it depends largely on the staff/growers.

I found most of the coffee shops i visited uncomfortable - either with the seating arrangements or how smoky they were (well .... doesnt' that sound silly on a canna forum!!) - But i do like to be able to breathe whilst i relax haha

I will go back to Amsterdam one more time - but it would have to be spring or summer. I did a winter visit last and the weather was terrible. So so cold, so windy so wet.

I'd rather know of one or two amazing coffee shops that are comfortable (not the rockery *cough splutter cough ... pray for fresh air*) and go there.

If you haven't been EP, the riverboat "buses" are a good idea, you pay for a band and can get on and off at highlights around the city. As A4 says.. there's so much cool stuff to see that you'd regret spending all the time in a coffee shop.

If you smoke in your hotel room, here's a tip. Don't leave any unfinished joints laying about - they WILL get binned (i was sooo MAD) lol (santa maria .... how i misssed her) lol

Maybe I should qualify this/my statements regarding the Bushdoctors, I have been inside their outlet 4 times in the last 15 yrs.

1. The staff have always been...............'not interested'!

As in you ask "what would you recomend?" , here is the menu 'Not interested'!!

2. Yes, they have some good shite in but, the locals get it first!

As in you need a good friend.......... a local user of the Bushdoctors?

For me, I always loved The Doors Cafe which was a tribute to Jim Morrison and had the finest Nepalese Grey Temple Balls. Oh boy, I'm drooling again.

It's not cheap out there Blue, similar prices to the UK but better? more choice of weed, and can smoke on site
Now if you go to a bar and purchase a few pints of lager and the inevitable happens, thats when I think it takes the piss!
