Sup homies!

I'm about to start my first grow, but before I toss literally tens of dollars of beans into the dirt I wanted the big boys/girls advice.

I'm using a 50/50 blend of fox farm Ocean Forest and Fox Farm Happy Frog in the lower half of a 3 gallon fabric pot and 100% Happy frog in the top half. Mixed in somewhere near 30% pearlite to those mixes and that's it.

So my questions are:

1) Is this a good starting point?
2) Will I need to nute early or does the advice to leave em be for a few weeks hold up still?
3) Do you have any advice to keep PH in the right place? (Using RO H2O)
4) Any other general advice for a new bro?

Love you all, happy growing!

Ocean Forest is a hot soil and doesn't require nutes for the first 3-4 weeks. Cut with Happy Frog, it may not be as hot, but I don't know how much less hot with the added Happy Frog. When you do start nutes, be sure it is only 1/4 strength.

Is it even worth cutting the ocean forest in the future, or am I just trying too hard here?

I started with Happy Frog/Ocean Forest/Perlite (mixed), then moved to 50/50 Ocean Forest/Perlite for several years before taking up with coco. Whatever "floats your proverbial boat". You can always try a couple different soil mixes/layerings and see which one performs best at harvest. I've read plenty of posts where the grower used what you are using now.
