Welcome! I think Milky has it. I have Mars II 700 and it's very noisy. If sound was an issue for me I'd replace the OEM fans for better computer fans. But just to warn I usually do thing the hard way.

Noise from led lights is a function of the fans and the housing. If the housing is poorly designed and consructed, it will vibrate and amplify the vibration.

Unfortunately, after watching tutorials on how to change fans on a light, I regret I have neither the skills nor tools required.
So I suppose it does boil down to 2 questions for me then:
1. If certain brands is where it's at, are there any that you can recommend? I heard great things about GrowNorthern - there is someone selling this light near me, but is it quiet or 'just' powerful? I would think build quality would go hand in hand with low noise but I don't see it mentioned on the product specification page. Someone has recommended Vipar for me - any comments on that? Unfortunately I can only rely on people's second hand comments so please if you have anything to say about the light you're using - go ahead I will appreciate!
2. If I don't find a quiet enough panel light, can I still successfully complete a grow with LEDs ONLY in those spectrums: Red 660/630, Blue 460/430? Or do I need those UV, IR, orange/yellow ones as well?

the LED,that im using,make very litte sound,can not hear it when door closed very silent, and im using two other LED on me other tent that as not got any fans at all,work just nice this a pic of it

You need complete spectrum for a decent grow. You would limit yourself badly with this decision. But you can try, start and then get bigger light if you will see bad results.
If you need silence, HID is an option too.

My Gn MS0006 is quiet, about same as four, 4" pc fans.
My Apollo 400 watt LED is pretty quiet it does have fans you can hear but no rattle or anything like that when I close the door I can hardly hear it.
Hey I heard they work great, I have a tent, I suppose I did a good job on my ducting since the extraction fan is not very loud, it's a mild air-movement type of noise, kind of like a high quality blowdryer. The LEDs I have seen, though (bear in mind the build quality was not so good), seem to have this rattle-type noise that I absolutely want to avoid as it drives me mad lol!
GN sounds like a great choice to be honest. Do you guys think ms0006 would be an overkill? How high/low do I need to keep the light (from your experience), as my vertical height is only 1.4m (4.5') and some of it is already taken up by the air extraction kit. Is hanging the ms0006 unit in there a viable solution or will I have problems with bleaching? (I plan to LST)

some people are using white leds to grow and are enjoy a good deal of success with them. have you considered using led light bulbs like these.http://www.ebay.com/itm/E27-E14-B22...20?pt=US_Light_Bulbs&var=&hash=item3a93099db8 in a fixture like the CFL growers use. perhaps a mix of cool white and warm white. no fan noise because of no fan and these bulbs are designed to replace incandescent bulbs for room lighting so should be pretty durable.they would provide both blue light (455-470 nm range) as well as full spectrum light from 540-700 nm. many DIYers are moving away from monochromatic led and starting to use high efficiency white leds
