Shown below is my grow room "Dashboard" using the Arduino IOT. I had to learn the language C++ and learn how to use the Arduino Cloud but that was great fun, I'm retired and I had 3 months in Mexico to do it. Took me way longer than it should have! Anyone with a shred of programming or IT skills could do this much quicker and more painlessly. One has to pay for this Cloud but that is pretty minimal..something like 60usd?year. I used Arduino boards (in this case 2 Arduino R4 Wifi units. I, could have done it with one had I paid for a "Maker" account, long story). The other equipment were really inexpensive or laying around the shop. I think total cost was < 100usd. None of this is necessary, one can just put the seed in the post and there it goes. My brother in law always gives me a look when I talk about this. But this project was really fun and no bragging here, I just found it fun . Anybody else doing this. I know you can now order all this stuff readymade too.
