Lighting Are autoCObbs worth it?

Watts per plant or COBs per plant is a bad metric in my opinion, because what's a plant? Is it a 6-foot man-eating monster or a clone-to-flower popsicle in a Sea Of Green?

Watts per square foot isn't perfect either, but as long as we're talking about high quality COBs (2.0-2.2umol/J) then 37.5 watts per square foot is a tried and true method for maximizing yields. So, three 55 watt COBs should cover about 4 square feet.

A beginner grower (or an organic grower) would be doing well at 1oz per square foot. That would be 1lb per 4x4. 2lb per 4x4 is sort of a bench mark for being a skilled, professional grower. If you're growing organic its much harder to hit, but the point is that 2lbs per 4x4, or 2oz per square foot, should be enough for any grower to call it a decent run.

So, from your 155 watts of COBs (4 sq. ft.) I think you should be satisfied with 4oz. and if you can hit 8oz. be really proud of yourself!

If your situation calls for more power you might want to check out The Cannon here on my AFN Forum. It gets 2.0umol/J and the cost in dollars/watt is a lot lower if you get one big, powerful COB.

Happy growing:smoking:

I read alot of peoples reviews on here that hyped these autocobb 55's up quite a bit. So I bought 3. I ran 3 of them over 3 photos. I averaged about 1 ounce per plant. Now with the price of these I feel like this is a total failure. While the nugs are good quality. The yield and density was not what I expected. Trich production was great. But yield is lacking very much @ only 1 ounce per plant dried. The owner even told me he was pulling 8 ounces using 1 autocobb 55 over 1 plant. Somehow I only got 1 ounce per?

Does anyone have any better experiences with these lights? My next grow I will be running 2x 5 gallon and using the 3 auto cobbs which should be more than enough to get a great yield. Over 2 plants.
I’m running 3 in a 2x4 tent. 3 autocobs are definitely enough light for the area. My last run was 3 Fugue State. I got 10 ounces off of that but in retrospect, I should’ve only went with 2 plants and I would’ve yielded very close to the same if not matched it. They suffered a bit from a lack of room. I’m actually going to switch to a 4x4 and add a bit more light. Currently doing my qb research. So far, considering my own needs I think I’m going to keep on the autocob train. Although, I can see how the qb’s can be better suited for certain applications...

So you're saying 4 oz per plant with 3 autocobbs?

I would say provided you have the room, a strain capable of high yields, and sufficient nutes there’s no reason not to achieve those numbers or beyond. As I’m sure everyone on here will agree, it is all dependent on the growers ability in addition to those key factors I’ve listed above. There are many that grow with 1 autocob per plant who achieve those figures and in some cases well beyond.

You need too use powerful nutes my bro, use tangs feed scedule.... Or meed chief scedule you will get results. If you need the schedules let me kniw as I'm on the phone at the moment.

I'm going to have another run with 3 autocobbs over 2 plants in 5 gallon pots using happy frog and the flora trio nute lineup.
Last run I got some real nice bud. Just not a great yield. Only like 1 to 1.5 ounces per plant. They did have somewhat of a lockout early on so maybe that played a role. Either way we shall see how they do this upcoming run

That is same as I run but with autos not photos. I averaged around 4oz per plant but have a 2'x4'x5' so have to keep small. So many other questions you need to answer 1st. Light schedule, was it 2x 5gal in soil? How long did you veg for? What strains, did you train them? Room temp any other info. Autocobs weren't your problem I dont think. Many folks have great success with them how far were they from plants? Lots of factors play into it. I'm sure you will get help with this lots of smart people here. I got 234g in 3gal in pro mix, plus 2 more that came to over 6oz in same grow, so 13oz from 3 plants. Give us some more info so we can help.

Happy frog is better than ffof, not as hot. Be careful with nutrients dont start using for like 1st 4 weeks or so. Did you do that last grow? If you had a lockout then your plants may not have grown as much, so when you flipped lights weren't as big as could have been which is why yield was low.

I'm in a 3x3x6
I was running 2 master kush and 1 blackjack in 3 gallon pots with happy frog and the GO lineuo for nutes
I was not phing correctly at start until I got my PH pen. Plus i was over feeding .That could have caused the lockout I noticed. I flushed and after that they thrived.

I'm still debating which strains to go with this next run. Part of me wants to run the blackjack Photo again. It grew so nicely. I'm thinking about doing 2 blackjack in 5 gallons of happy frog and then 2 blue mystic auto flowers with them. Letting the autos finish and when they do, switching the black Jack's to 12/12. So the BJ would get to veg until the blue mystics are done.

I am really trying to dial in and be able to pull 2lbs per run with 4 auto cobbs. I still need to buy my last one to complete my setup.
