atrain's going organic!!! prep and grow journal.....empty compost bins to buds in a jar..... lets go

damn, now that is some hardcore compost your making. Looks like your going to have a well rounded compost.
Just water,and grow. "kudos"

Im hoping that is the case.. its fishing season here now but I cant put a whole fish in my compost but ive been thinking of ways to add fish components to my bin with out smell. The next trip ill be scaling all of the catch, then toasting like the egg shells and adding them to the egg shells in the blenter to powder then then adding. If this works ill use the skin in the same method after that

Hello Atrain, thank you ever so much for the invite to this great thread. I am also considering going fully organic for my soil grows but am not ready to do DWC organic yet. You have some real great information there and its really helpful to anyone who is thinking about going organic.

Just thought you might be interested in adding other beneficials into your compost heap to speed things up and encourage other friendly bacteria, have a look at this.
You might also be interested in fungi to go along with that, so here have a look at this.
And one last thing just encase your interested, have a look at this.
All those items would be great for an organic grow and would almost reassure a grower from getting any problems.
I was looking into this the other day too as this might help speed things up with composting, not sure how organic it is.

Anyway i hope i havent wrecked your head by spilling out lots of random info on things that you are already on top of. Im really looking forward to reading more of this thread so best of luck with it man.

All info is greatly appreciated please when reading this dont hold anything back..... even if its telling me im doing something wrong lol
It will only benifit later..... do you think I should add these things to the compost heap now? I have some soil amendments picked out now I plan to use but if it will speed things up it is def an option.

Heres a list of things that will be mixed in later then let "cook" for a month or two

T 1. Crustacean Meal - NPK along with Chitin and Calcium

2. Kelp Meal - Acadian Seaplants Brand

3. Neem Cake - Ahimsa Brand

4. Karanja Cake - Ahimsa Brand

5. Brix Blend Basalt - Rock Dust Local Brand

6. Gypsum Dust*-*Mined in Colorado - Calcium and Sulfur

7. Glacial Rock Dust

8. Oyster Shell Flour - Calcium

I do apologies as i am only new to organics myself so i have very limited amount of information.
Im not sure about adding the bactor and trichoderma to the compost heap as i think this is something you can add later.
Also consider brewing some organic teas using the Bactor and molasses and worm castings.
Not only will these give the plants a much needed boost in vitality but they will also kill any unwanted bacteria, keeping the soil healthy.
I know you could start adding the compost activator to the heap at any time.
Look for directions of application for the bactor and fungi on the site.
If you have any problems dont be afraid to message Nigel who is the owner of The Nutrient Company site, he is very helpful.
Hes got tons of great info about bacteria and fungi and knows all there is to know about brewing teas.
Hope this helps.

My plants have been liking Dr.Earths Root Zone. Its a bad of a dry blend of nutrients...and endo/eco maychorizae beneficial's...etc.

The only thing I can speak for is the kelp meal is a great amendment to add. I like some Bone meal too...for mainly its P, and Calcium. Has a dash of sulfer too. Idk what else is in it though. I believer a dash of N..but not much. The Jobes I have is like 2-16-0 Calcium at 14% and sulfer ~3%

Brewing a tea of that with some molasses would be good to add I would think...Correct me anyone please, if I am wrong. =) I know a little something something, thanks mainly to eyesonfire on making compost/ soil blends. I just dont know it down to the real technical stuff.

Yep they'll be loving it. From what I've heard, if you get the mycorrhiza action firing, it effectually allows the plant to uptake 400%-1000% more than what they would without the fungi relationship.

edit: effectually increases the plants root zone by 400-1000%

Another worm feeding today.... sweet peppers, banana, strawberry tops, potatoe, avacado peels, coffee grounds and topped off with this latest little creation.... I boiled 50 shrimp.tails for 5 min ( read it helps get unwanted oils out) then toasted with my egg shells on 200 for 30 min then blended and sprinkled over the entire bin.
