Hey dudes. I've been wanting to try tlo for some time, but I hate to give up my love of coco dripping. I'm not a fan of soil anymore because of how compact it gets over time, and I also like to feed multiple times a day. So I'm going to attempt at a coco tlo recipe, and the plan is to drip plain water, with the periodic tea ammend, or spikes. I'm still new to tlo and just tryING to figure out what all blends together to make a super soil work.

I'm basing all these ingredients off things I could find on amazon, so that's what I'm working with.

Here is a list of ingredients I've found, now I'm not putting these all together. I seek the advice of the fine organic growers here to give me input as to what they think would help this recipe come together. And possibly help me out with the amount I should add to the mixture.

Humid acid

Rock phosphate

Azomite

Green sand

Oyster shells

Crab shells

Jamaican bat guano

Mexican bat guano

Seabird guano

Kelp meal

alfalpha meal

Blood meal

Bone meal

Fish bone meal

Dolemite lime

Earth worm castings.

Base medium would be pure coco.

I plan to make this recipe work with a 5g bail of coco, approx 16-18 gal of potting. once I get some input from you guys I will narrow down what I need and then work on the amounts. Any input is greatly appreciateD.

Looks like a comprehensive amendment list..
a percentage of peat or similar added may be beneficial...someone more experienced will surely advise.. good luck..:Sharing One:

sooo you wanna use 100% coco coir eh? hmmm yeah I was curious who was gonna be the first..as a rule its nowhere as doable as having a heavier mix.using soil you can lighten up your mix quite easily that wont tamp down over time. and with coco your going to have to heavy it up some with either soil,or spag peat and castings(fresh would be best here)..since coco generally wont have the higher activity as a soil just due to the thin ness of the medium.it'll breath fantastic and early on you rshould see some excellent growth id imagine, just the eventuality might take place once it gets so old it wont have the interior mass to sustain a more effective life cycle.it does sorta!its just nowhere near as effective.atleast all i know of coco and organic it wont jive as well but it'll work ok as a more organic mellow life soup feed imo.

but i have zero experience making a coco tlo mix.coco can easily be used in conjunction With soil or many other things but not as well stand alone.youd have to treat it ,soak it and thats a hassle man.lol!! beautiful stuffs.ya wont need all that but if were were willing to use a little i would be waay easier man lol you can even use mostly coco too but ya gotta have some in there.the more the merrier lol.thats all.

Thanks duggy and eyes!

Eyes, that's what I was worried about. I've been trying to find some info on using nothing but coco but couldn't find anything. I don't have a problem maybe doing 50/50 coco/soil? Maybe mix the coco with some black gold or fox farms soil? If I went 50/50 on it, do you think it could sustain itself throughout say a 3-4 month grow?

My mix has about 30% perlite and 20% coco... you can always top dress later in the grow if any problems..:Sharing One:

yeah if your willing to use a solid 50% coco mix absolutley thats ideal if you prefer coco.I dont but its awesome within tlo.you could even go a little thinner iiif ya really wnated to but not a lot though.i personally wouldnt touch a bag of FF soil if it was given to me without working it thoroughly. but a coco grow is prolly doable but youd have to have a multitude of intricate and unique items to pull that off imo.could get pricey but prolly doable and a lotta work with feeds n things.but a fifty mix is great! should last you plenty long for a full grow of that length with minimal feeds or drip or however you wanna do that.I personally would work lightly a bag of black gold then make the tlo mix a lil heavy and then split and thin it then moisten it well and that would work well.or you could just mix thee entire batch as a base as you mentioned.which is prolly best imho.

Thanks a bunch eyes. I can see I'm going to have to experiment to find something that works well. Do you see anything I wouldn't need to add in my list. I will be using black gold as my soil additive with coco.

Glad i found this man i been thinking about doing this for a while now too. I found a product called super coco that basically it a coco based super soil but no way in hell im paying 60 bucks for a bag! lmao ill be keeping an eye on here to see u do it man. What i was thinking is what amendments would automatically buffer the ph of the water down to 6.0.. have fun man!!

edit forgot to mention idk how u could keep the mix light enough to feed multiple times per day and keep enough food in it to feed for a couple months.. especially if your pots are like a one gallon. Id still recycle the runoff. Interesting stuff though!!

Awesome info puff! Thank you for the links. I'd love to try it out, but at 60 bucks for a few gallons I'll just try to make my own. I've got the ingredients from his mix, so I will try to start from there. I haven't found anything on the ratios he uses, so I will do some more research.

Jay I'm gonna figure this out bro. Will have to be a coco/soil mix but I will design it for a drip system!
