Hello all,

I was at a hydroponics shop in Nashua, NH. The clerk told a customer that his autoflower was not switching due to to much area in his dwc setup. I was under the impression that they trigger due to genetics. He also told me it was when the plant got rootbound it would trigger.

Any input either way would be appreciated.

Autoflower start their flower period due to genetics nothing to do with area in DWC.
The genetics of the Ruderalis strain will flower under almost any conditions once it reaches a certain age.

Sounds like yet another person spewing things about auto's that they shouldn't. Think of auto's as being a timer. It's a go and in general terms, nothing is gonna stop them.

That person has never grown an auto. They start budding right about week 4 and all I have ever grown, seen or heard of do by week 6.

In my experience in soil totally false. I have never had a rootbound or even close to rootbound plant. I grow in [HASHTAG]#10[/HASHTAG] airpots and they are flowering long before the roots ever even hit the edge of the container and still have unused soil at harvest.

Seems like the guy in hydro store needs to find a..... more suitable job!
Even my girlfriend ( who doesnt know the difference between P and K element!) knows autos are time bombs.day lenght variation(20-6 or 24-6 instead of 18-6) is the only way to flower later and yet not suggestable as stress effect is more than increase in growth.
And PK shock is the only way to prolonge flowering stage that im aware of.

Good luck :)

Huh??? and what is 20/6 and 24/6?

I think he means 24 hours of light followed by 6 hours dark etc iv never personally heard of that method or tried it.
Exactly
I tried this methode myself as i have many seeds to try all i hear and think about.
I just love these plnts :)

how would you even set a timer to 24/6 0r 20/6? how did you come up with this?

18/6 20/4 24/0 are the light schedules I have used.
