So here goes. Returned from 20 days away to find my girls alive and not too much worse for the neglect. We did fill up a massive water butt and rig up a thingy with a felt mat underneath the pot, but while this prevented them from drying out completely, the soil had moved away from the sides of the pot considerably and looked pretty parched when we arrived, but the plants themselves looked okay.
I have been giving a litre of water every hour since we arrived home at noon, trying to rehydrate the soil gradually, will give them both some Bio Bizz Fish Mix at sundown.
The plants broke soil, 18 or so hours apart, they have both been in the same pot from day 7 but today at 35 days old, Rasputia ( for that is what I have named the big girl) is exactly 24 ins tall and Thumbellina (the Lilliputian) is only 7 ins tall. Go figure! Same feeding/watering regime.
Both showed sex while we were away so can't accurately say when they preflowered.
Harvested 40 Chillies (Habaneros and Scotch Bonnets) this afternoon from 6 plants and the Trinidad Moruga Scorpions have even decided to join the party - both of them are really on their way now. They seem to need much more heat and sunlight to fruit, but now we have liftoff
