Hi

I´m going to experiment with the Auto Jack strain from Paradise Seeds in my greenhouse this summer, but I´m not really sure what the optimal start-up month will be. I have read that even though most sources indicates a ~75 days life cycle one should expect at least 90 days when growing the plant outside. I live in Denmark, and as the summer here is rather short, and late spring and early autumn can be cold, I would like to utilize the time at hand at its best.
At present time I´m thinking that germination should be in the end of May, which will leave June, July and August (statistically the warmest months of the year) for growing.
But on the other hand I guess that sunshine is more important than temperature alone, and (statistically) May, June and July have significantly more sunshine hours than August has. So maybe it would be better to start germination in the end of April, leaving May, June and July for growing...

So what would you recommend?

The experiment is means as a low cost/low tech solution, so I will be using a ordinary 10 liter plastic bucket with holes drilled in the bottom as a container and will be feeding it rain water with an occasional supplement of some universal greenhouse fertilizer.

Welcome Martin, you sound like you know what your doing so best of luck !
Havent got any experience with greenhouses or autojack but my suggestion is start one may 1st, then another may15th and finally one on june 1st. Then next year you will know whats best. If you have one of those max min thermometers which tell you the coldest and hottest tempratures in the greenhouse you could use that as an indicator, when night time temps get above 10 you could germinate then?
Best of luck

Hi Martin,

You got a good grasp here I think. However, in a greenhouse, with plants in them, you should not worry as much about the cold. I think you could start even earlier if you wanted.

I am growing auto's AND photo's (see my signature "Eeks perpetual grow". I the greenhouse all year around. We have had snow, rain and wind storms. Your greenhouse will never frost over on your plants. Also, you can put a heater in there. Don't forget a fan to keep your humidity down. If you can open the GH during the day, that would help too. Just the plants themselves will keep them a few degrees F above normal because if thier respirattion.

If you are going for most yeild, then yes the months you say are the best months. But if you don't care, or plant more than one, you can get two crops in your time peiriod instead of just one.

My opinion only

Peace

Eek
