Seed Bank Bitcoin seed banks anyone try?

Isn't Weedseeds.ie that company that took everyone's money and failed to mail any seeds? I believe it was them, I'll do some digging.

Yup, here we go.
https://www.autoflower.org/f27/weedseeds-ie-1518.html

There's a lot of links in there from people that joined just to flame them, but there were also established members that flat out got ripped off. They take the money and run, stay away from them.

Step 1 - What is a Bitcoin?

Bitcoin is a peer-to-peer decentralized electronic currency. Essentially, it’s similar to a bank account in that your money is stored as numbers in a database and the system shifts numbers from one account to another to make a transaction. The system is decentralized, however, so the database is stored on every participating computer
simultaneously.

Bitcoin is the first such distributed currency, and as a result of this architecture it has no middlemen to take fees from every transaction you make and it is not controlled by any organization or government.

Email lets you send messages free anywhere in the world. Skype does the same for telephone conversations. And now there’s Bitcoin, allowing you to send money from anywhere to anywhere with no restrictions or national borders for less than one cent per transaction.

Some Interesting Facts…

  • Bitcoin is a digital currency
  • Because it is digital, you can literally backup your money, so, when properly cared for, it can’t be:
    • Lost
    • Stolen
    • Frozen or seized
  • Allows a direct and immediate transfer of value between two people anywhere in the world.
  • No banks, governments, or organizations control or influence it.
  • Cannot be counterfeited, inflated, printed, or devalued over time.
  • A peer-to-peer network functions as a distributed authority to record transactions.
  • Bitcoin operates on free, open-source software on any computer or smart phone.
  • There are no start-up, transaction, or usage fees.
  • Purchases can be completely anonymous.
  • Transactions cannot be reversed.
  • Privacy is enhanced with Bitcoin and it reduces identity theft.
  • Bitcoins can be exchanged in open markets for any other currency.
Step 2 - Get yourself a bitcoin address

What are Addresses?
Bitcoin payments operate like bank transfers. Each person has their own "account", called a Bitcoin Address. An address looks like this: 1MauqJEVKx7mohEXXaHXnn96RFvLEGnVjV

A person can have as many Addresses as they wish and store them together in an electronic Wallet.

So lets get you your first Address!

Online Bitcoin Client
For USA residents https://coinbase.com is a online bitcoin wallet that allows you to send and receive bitcoins. Coinbase includes its own built-in exchange, allowing users to convert between bitcoins and US dollars directly through their bank accounts. Unfortunately, the bank account integration is only available inside the United States, and only a limited amount can be bought or sold at a time (initially 10 BTC, but able to be increased to 100 BTC through a verification process). For EURO residents you can use https://blockchain.info

Desktop Software
MultiBit is a secure, lightweight, international Bitcoin wallet for Windows, MacOS and Linux
MultiBit makes performing Bitcoin transactions quick and simple
MultiBit comes in a variety of languages because Bitcoin is without borders
MultiBit is free and open source

You can download multibit here, https://www.multibit.org

I have the Address, what do I need it for?
Well, an Address is like a bank account - before you can spend any money, you need to put some money in. You can use your Address to store more funds than you need for just one purchase, so you won't have to do the following steps each time you want to buy something.

Step 3 - Geting some bitcoins

As Bitcoin is a form of currency, it costs money. The easiest ways to get bitcoins are:

USA: https://www.coinbase.com - bank transfer
Euro: https://www.bitstamp.net - bank transfer

or you would use a website like https://www.bitinstant.com its a new service that allows you to quickly and easily transfer funds into your online exchange account without delay. It provides a means to rapidly topup your account at one of several bitcoin exchanges. Methods of Payment: Cash deposit (7-11, Walmart, CVS, and Moneygram locations) or Dwolla.

Buy bitcoins locally worldwide
There is a number of people wanting to trade bitcoins locally. You can get in contact with them through the website http://www.LocalBitcoins.com

Step 4 - Make a payment

I assume you have funds on your Address now. Good!

Find out the payment details
Find out what Address you need to pay your money TO and HOW MUCH you need to pay. It might be as easy as sending 1 bitcoin to 1MauqJEVKx7mohEXXaHXnn96RFvLEGnVjV, or a bit more complicated, as sending 123.12345678 bitcoins to 1MauqJEVKx7mohEXXaHXnn96RFvLEGnVjV. As you most likely will be doing this on your computer, just copy and paste everything.

Send the money
Go to the bitcoin client online or desktop. Find the location where you can input your recipient's Bitcoin address and amount and send the payment. It should be fairly straightforward.

Step 5 - the next level
You have gotten your feet wet with Bitcoin, but do you want to find out how deep the rabbit hole goes? This part of the guide is for people that want to advance their knowledge a step further than just a casual use.

There are many more aspects to discover about Bitcoin, too many to cover in this guide. If you have completed each step in this guide, you are already capable of using Bitcoin in most situations. To learn more, read this Wiki, ask questions on the StackExchange, go onto the forums, or read a comprehensive master thesis on Bitcoin by ThePiachu. You now know everything you need to free your money from banks and fiat currencies.

Hey,

Was looking online for info about weedseeds.ie as I ordered some seeds from them about 4 weeks ago now and they have still not arrived :(. They have not answered any of my emails either so I'm not hopeful that I will get my seeds or money back and am feeling slightly annoyed at them and myself.

Anyhow I have a massive interest in Bitcoin and growing so I have done a bit of research since being ripped off to find a few other bitcoin accepting seed shops and there were actually a few more than I expected. I have only ordered from one of them though as I was a bit apprehensive since whole weedseeds debacle.

Bitcoin seedstore - (www.bitcoinseedstore.com) I ordered some Jack herer seeds from them as the site was nice and easy to use, got them in 3 days. Also got a couple of free ones so would definitely recommend.
There is also one called Geordie seeds (www.bitcoin-cannabis-seeds.com) - the site looks as though its still being worked on and have a fairly small selection at present but looks genuine from the activity on the twitter account.
Bitcoinseedsshop (bitcoinseedshop.com/) - Didn't really like the look of the site so didn't order anything (might be a bit shallow of me but never mind :)) also some of them were very expensive.
Also there is www.bitcoinseedbank.com which says its under construction

In a couple of months when I buy some more I will use one of the others and update you all on what happens :) Hopefully people will read this and learn from my mistake!

Welcome to the site, and a great first post.
Good info

Thank you :) I'm looking forward to becoming more involved in the forums
