This grow is not starting well but here it goes. The auto mazar seeds are almost two years old and when I opened the package one of the three seeds were small and immature. Two of the three mazar seeds did not come up and an auto black JH seed failed also so I used two delicious sugar black rose autos. There is five days difference between plants and one of the sbr plants is deformed. The auto mazar is center and is 13 days old.

My setup for this grow is about the same as last; 2'X4'X7' lighthouse tent, 6in duct fan & carbon filter and 3 6in clip-on circulating fans, 2 bs240uv and 1 135w ufo leds, 4 four foot t5s mounted on corner posts. Three 5gal air pots and fox farm trio, beastie bloomz, kangaroots and sledgehammer, advanced sensi cal/mag grow and bloom and of course superthrive. I can not operate all the lights at this time because of the temps, in a few weeks things will be cooler around here, I hope. I used the ufo and t5s (10000k bulbs) to get everything started and am now using the bs240s only, temps 82-83f day and 72-73f nights. The auto mazar is what I really wanted to grow so the others will have to catch up, for now only the tritoe sbr has me worried. I never had one of these before. The mazar has been given 2ml of cal/mag grow in 1000ml water at 10days and the sbr will get the same Monday. The air pots were soaked with a 1gal each mixture of kangaroots (recomended amount) two days before planting.

First feeding for the sugar black rose, 2ml of cal/mag grow and a few drops of superthrive in 1000ml areated water and a second feeding of the auto mazar with 2ml grow big 4ml big bloom and 2ml kangaroots in 1000ml areated water. The color looks good for all the plants and the growth is good for the mazar. I have the two bs240uvs at 24in but the temps are still too high (83f) to turn on any more lights. I am also using water from a dihumidifier instead of buying spring water this time to try and bring down my costs. The deformed plant on the right seems to be doing ok, maybe three sets of leaves is a good thing.

Hi there Virginia Gent. Loving those airpots and your set-up. How did you germinate those failed AutoMazars? Paper towel method? Straight into soil? That Black Sugar Rose sounds great. I'll Google it. Good luck with your grow pal.

VAGent!

Sorry I'm a couple days late to the party, pulling up a chair now, though! :)

Looks like a great set-up...lotta light :) and big-ass airpots! Recipe for Success!

I did my usual poke and pray method after soaking seeds in water until they sank. I think that I should have waited another day or so after I soaked the airpot with a gallon of water with 10ml kangaroots. Thanks for the visit.

Almost the end of week 3 for the auto mazar and week 2 for the sugar black rose, I know I will never keep the age of these plants by days so I will try weeks. The NL&BB I grew last time is now cured and kicking my ass. My tent temps are starting to get a little better so I turned on the 135w UFO, that along with the 2 240bs uv's makes 615w rated power, I will let it get to 85f daytime but no higher. Everyone got fed today, mazor got 2l of areated 6.8ph water with 4ml sensi cal/mag grow (4-0-0) and a half cap superthrive, the sbr's got 1l each of 6.5 areated water with 2ml gb 4ml bb 2ml kangaroots. The mazor is putting out a good spread but little vertical growth and the sbr's are doing well, all lights are at 24in 20/4.

One of the sbr (far right) is still putting out three sets of leaves but looks good otherwise, the other (far left) is starting to look very good. The mazar (center) is showing slight nute burn signs. My acturate 8 meter came today and I think I have found the error I keep making. The soil ph is 6.5 for the first 2/3 and 5.5-5.0 for the bottom. I think the roots of the mazar are now into that bottom soil level and because I have been watering too light the salts are accumulating at the bottom. I hope by watering heavy, maybe 2gal for 5gal pots, the ph can be made right throughout the pots. Don't know if I should add nutes to the last 1or2 quarts or wait a few days to feed. A full scale flush seems a waste, only the bottom is off. My idea of adding kangaroots to the soil before planting and than watering lightly may have made the problem worse. Anyway once I start feeding I will need to water more deeply, and with some runoff. Feeding early, day 10 or so, may be too early for the amount of water needed to spread the nutes evenly. I love this hobby, every grow is a new adventure. Of course being stoned the whole time helps too. The plants don't look that bad and the problem should be correctable without too much lost vertical growth. Both plants can get to 80cm, but only if they can use the whole pot.

I did EXACTLY the same thing and found out about it exactly the same way :)

I had nute/salt build up in the bottom third of the pot due to under watering per feed. I flushed for two feeds with around 50-60% run-off then went back to
business as usual but watering to 15%-20% run-off from there on out. Found out about it by having the long probe of the Accurate 8 that allowed me to check
the different levels of the airpot. :) the rest of the grow was a near perfect pH range sweep of 6.8 when dry to 6.2 when wet.

I have a triple leaf mutant too.....A Short Stuff Auto Purple Amnesia. :)

Everything looks great VAGent - Continued Good Karma!

Week 4 almost over for the mazar and week 3 for the sbr. Thank you Trapper, have followed your advice and I think no real harm has been done. The mazar (center plant) still has "nute burn" but it seems to be only top growth new leaves main stem, the sbrs (right and left plants) look good. My new accurate 8 has shown me the same thing you discribed. The first pic is the three leaf sbr the next pic is her sister they each got flushed with 6.6ph water with 4ml/gal cal/mag grow and a half cap superthrive. The mazar got 4ml gb 10ml bb and 5ml kangaroots in 6.6 water. The ph on the bottom 1/3 has improved to 6.0 and by next watering all should be fine.
