Lighting BlackStar The Manual

Hiya fellas! Another LED-lover joining the party 'ere! :smoke:

I did - imho - a decent research for the cheapest BS LED grow light and found a BlackStar 240w (80*3) LED w/full spectrum and a 3 year warranty from a chinese manufacturer/trading company. I've been corresponding via e-mails with this sales woman and she just offered me some knock-your-socks-off-killer-prices and this company has a very good sales rep! As I find this very hard to resist, I'm planning on purchasing two or maybe even three units of these 240W BS from this chinese manufacturer/trading company. Currently I'm running a LED-ufo grow light, 240W, 10 spectrum, but I need more juice!

I don't know if it's ok to post any prices or links from competing vendors so for now I didn't. If, however, I get a green light I'll show you what I've found. ;)

'Til then... Pick it, pack it and fire it up!

It won't be a Blackstar bro it will just have the same casing,if you just buy 1 or 2 lights from China you may get a "frankenlight" a hodge podge of differing spec parts. A fellow member called The Groff had problems with his BS knockoff. My advice is get a proper Blackstar then you get a light with PROVEN spec.

the model that has the best component's from blackstar is a lighthouse blackstar if your in the state's call gotham

Hi guys! New here...not necessarily new to growing, but definitely new to LED lighting. I just switched-out a 600w HPS (and shut down my dedicated room AC) for a 600w Lighthouse Hydro BS LED. So far, I love this thing. Temps, in my little tent, are now staying at a very comfortable 77F with no AC running at all. Since I don't have a lot of room, I'm using a very small grow tent (2' x 3' x 6') so I can only grow two plants at the most. What I've been doing for the past four little grows is to run autoflower seeds. I've been growing one plant until it starts flowering and then pop another bean. That way I can almost keep a perpetual grow happening. It's been working with HPS, but the heat was and is causing too many problems in my little apartment. I also will have a 240w BS LED in the tent in a few days. I purchased it off of fleebay.

Right now I have a Nirvana Jock Horror AF that is exactly 5 weeks old today (little flowers) and a Nirvana Northern Lights AF that just popped out of the dirt last night. I'll post a vid/pic as soon as I can. Nice to be here!

Quick update about my lights: something interesting about Gotham Products (they sell BS LEDs); I got the 240w BS LED I talked about above and only half of the LEDs were lit. I wrote an email to Gotham Products and they immediately replied back with this:

"It could just have a bum power supply from the factory. If you're comfortable, unscrew the 6 screws on the side of the unit, once you open it, you'll see two power supplies with clips each running into the LED board, switch these wires and plug the light in and if the other side of the light illuminates we will know its a power supply issue and not a board issue. If thats the case we could send you a new power supply tomorrow."

I tried it and it was indeed a bad power supply. Gotham Products is sending me a new PS and all is good! Good customer service goes a long way with me...Gotham has my business for the foreseeable future.

Here's a link to what my setup looks like right now:

Update: The PSU showed up and it took me about 15 minutes to change it out. Now the LED works perfectly. Gotham Products gets a thumbs up from me!

Hey guys, I just got a 240 watt flowering model. The hanging material doesn't look very sturdy, and frankly I don't trust it. Also, I can't lower it easily with the hanging material it came with. Anyone got any good suggestions as to what I should use? My tent is kind of tall, 70 inches.
