Blast from the Past.

I am researching the whole thing all over again and it would seem mono-tub is what I will now be doing. I think I will be using a blend of millet and corn for the spawn. I could not source enough at a reasonable price to go all millet. I want to be sure to go gluten free in my process.

Down the rabbit hole I go Ok I change my mind again to bird seed for the spawn.

So I have been gathering up my materials. I am surprised you cannot just buy horse shit like cow shit! On E bay they want $23 for 10 Qts. I just drove around in the country (a nice diversion) until I found some people tending to their horses and asked If I could buy some shit? They laughed and said I could have all I wanted for free. They even helped me pick it up . I gave them a ten spot because it is the right thing to do and I have a future source for all the best shit in town. Wally World is having a reset on their plastic stuff and have very little in stock and not the Sterlite 66L w/clear lid? I went a half dozen places before I found one at Home Depot. I got the Monsoon Solo at Petco. The price has doubled since May when Willy Myko made the video on how to build an automated MonoTub. I priced it online and it is what it is. I have to go automated for misting because there is no way I can do that every 8 hours . So on to the bird seed. This should be easy................. No. It is everywhere, right but the blends on many of the cheap ones have wheat or grain byproducts ? - remember I have to go gluten free. I got some with just Milo, Millet and black Oil Sunflower Seeds 10# 7.99.

I did not find gypsum in the right form (powdered) or a reasonable size to start. It seems to be way more expensive than when I was farming. I guess it has been 28 years since then .

I will chop up the poop tomorrow. I have a leaf mulcher but I think I would loose too much that way as it is a bit too big for the job. Maybe I will just put it in a bucket and chop it up with my floor scraper? Then I have a cement mixer to blend every thing. I am glad this stuff is so light. It is not a problem on my back. Then my bulk substrate will be ready to pasteurize when I need it.

That may be a affordable source of gypsum for you, eh?

Are you looking to grow magic shrooms out blue oyster for just regular eating? I grew some oyster mushrooms and that was great . I like the others too but have not gone down the rabbit hole to grow any
