Grow Room Blue Dream | Blue Kush | White Widow

The new White Widow wasted no time germinating. After a promising 20 hours there was a taproot sticking out.

The soil was still pretty wet from the pre-soaking so I fluffed it up a little bit, removing a good 20% of it in the process. I'll add it back when the soil gets compressed again. I feel the soil might've been packed too tight for the three other plants which is why they grew so slowly at first. Watering these small air-pots sucks if you don't pack it down, though, so...

Happy 420 everyone!

I was supposed to do an update today but the plants have been protesting my intentions of abandoning the hermied White Widow. They look pretty gnarly. Blue Dream even seems to have gone on a hunger strike, she's not drinking and although I've just fed her a full strength dose of grow she's still cannibalizing her first set of leaves. Hell, even my salvia cuttings started to look sick at the exact same time. It's uncanny how they seem to be fully aware of what's going around them...

The Blue Kush has stretched a lot. I have to say I don't agree with her growth strategy but at least the branches will get more light. Blue Dream is still looking dreadful, but she's slowly getting better. Today's the day I'll plant the hermied White Widow outside. The temperatures are going to dip below zero on a few nights but days are getting warmer and I have complete confidence she'll pull through. I will try to keep track of her situation but she'll be planted pretty far away.

Today is also the first day for the new Dinafem White Widow.

Damn it's good to be back. The new site seems pretty awesome. A lot has happened since the last update.

The situation with Blue Dream and Blue Kush actually got a lot worse before I figured out what was wrong, thanks to Namvet. Apparently, and I have no other theories, the home made calcium supplement (eggshells and vinegar) buffed the pH up to almost 8 and shit hit the fan pretty quick. I used some lemon juice when feeding the plants which produced instant results. I then bought some powdered citric acid and have been using it for a while now. It's pretty unstable as a pH down so it has to be used frequently.

Trichome production has been off the charts. The pre-flowers on the Blue Kush are already glistening.

Blue Dream is getting there too, so it's got to have something to do with the Blackstar.

The new White Widow is growing nicely, no funky stuff. I'll be topping her soon.

It's been a while.. Again.

I went on a trip abroad for four days and guess what? Yep, shit had plenty of time to hit the fan. The plants had started to droop from underwatering and yellow from the pH problems. Blue Kush and Blue Dream are both pretty much down to just a few sugar leaves now and even those aren't looking so hot anymore.

I did some testing on the calcium nutrient I made and found that at no point does it turn alkaline. I tested pretty much everything I use before I finally tested the All-Mix. Turns out the soil pH is about 8 as is. What the hell? I don't know if I can continue buying their soil mixes after all this...

Anyway, Dinafem were awesome enough to send me three new seeds as replacement for the hermie I grew out.

:thanks:

I really hope the plants all make it to harvest. Meanwhile I'm going to look into other alternatives for organic soil.

The eldest two are starting to look very delicious. I ordered an Arizer Air earlier this week after deciding against getting the Pax 2 but I won't have anything to test it with for weeks... :wall:

I feel like I'm finally starting to be on top of the pH situation... Soil pH should be pretty close to 6.5 now.
I contacted BioBizz about the pH and they told me it must have been caused by the temperature at which I store the bag (about 27-28 celsius). The soil starts to do stuff because of the Pre-Mix in it. For this reason the Light-Mix supposedly won't act like this.

Blue Kush and Blue Dream were harvested this morning

I estimate the dry yield at about 6 g total, which is far from my goal of 1 oz but it's still some great weed once again. As you can see in the picture I've already sampled both of them which is really easy with the the vaporizer (which is awesome).
I'm thinking air-pots aren't for me. Next grow I'll be using normal pots with double the volume. I'll also be using different kind of soil, although in the future I think I'll stick with BioBizz Light-Mix and store it properly just to be sure.

These girls will probably last me a good while and the White Widow is also ready soon. She didn't end up a huge yielder either but she'll still go a long way.

Here's some close-ups
