Very little heat you say. Colourful but not too scientific. Any adea how much heat "Very little heat" really is maybe in BTUs for example. I would love to get a BTU chart on the various LEDs. Does anyone have one? Hey I'll take the BTU output on even one panel and start my own chart.

My 240w Blackstar is scheduled for delivery today, I should be able to let you know about that one specific unit by tonight.

Good luck with it. I am considering buying one in the Winter. Only got 3 car payments left and then I will have more extra money. I am still looking for an apartment sized fridge to help cool me air pump - part of my bubbly machine. Just finished adding a higher capacity squirrel cage fan to help cool. Heat is such a pain in the ass indoors in the Summer. If I don't get it solved I guess I will give up growing in the Summer. That is why I am so interested in LEDs.

Hi TshirtNinja,

I'm new here and was advised to ask you about LED lights, I am a medical marijuana user, just licensed a few weeks ago. I have a 3' x 3' tent and would like to equip it with LED lights. I have a difficult time understanding tech information, I take morphine for pain and that does not help my thinking process either. I'm also in my 60s and familar with HID but not the newer LED lights. What would you suggest in the way of brand and also how much watts would be required and anything else you might want to include, thanks.

hey riley cat if you see this first check your other post and i answered your question pretty well. thank you for posting on the AFN and we look forward to seeing your grows!!!!

now to answer the other gear questions though i would suggest you use a 4" inline fan i use this one with great success.

its pretty darn quiet and i use this carbon scrubber to connect to it. and for you it will be easy to setup just buy the same tubing that you use to connect a dryer to the wall and connect it to the fan the carbon scrubber and have it exhaust out the tent. the scrubber stays in the tent. you could put a fan on the inside as well to simulate wind. this will strengthen your ladies and make them produce more bud. i keep my lights on a 20/4 schedule which is 20 hrs on and 4 hrs off. in the first 2 weeks i use 24/0 and watch for the first to show sex then i flip it to 20/4. feel free to come ask questions in my grow log in my signature below and i will try to assist you promptly. good to see you take your medicine into your own hands sir.

Billy, my friendly UPS driver, delivered my two new Blackstar 240s today. Always good to see Billy cause it means new toys. Thumbs up to Gotham for their speedy shipment and delivery. My first impression was the size of the units. They are half the size and weight of my GLH 180. 80 LEDs, and very bright. No documentation of any kind, but not really necessary. The cord is a standard 6' 120v computer style. A little longer cord might be nice as these will probably be too short in some applications.

I've got plants drying in my grow box and we're having a party tomorrow so on Sunday I'll move the plants to finish drying in the garage and get the lights hung. I've got 5 Onyx x AA plants, 5 weeks old, potted up and ready to go under them. Also have some RRF started for them as well. I've got 5 plants under the GLH right now but will only have room for 4 once they bigger, so will move one of the two Pineapplegum plants under the Blackstar. That will at least give me a small comparision between two plants of the same strain under the two different lights.

Wicked good luck with it Muddy. I hope your grow does well under it.

my led set up

I am new to this sight and this is my first post. I use to grow a long time ago and got out. Well i am back. I am just going small this time. I am currently using 2 100 watt 6 band led's using 3 watt crees. These lights are crazy:hump: . I measured the lumins they put out on a meter i have and they are kicking out far more lumins then a 250 watt hps :jump:. They are working just great for the 6 autos i have going under them right now. Also this is the first time ever i have grown autos. I got a pack of mixed reg short stuff seeds. So i have no idea what the types are. They will be a nice mystery. I am going to let this first batch seed out for seed stock to continue on growing in the future.

welcome to AFN parkerl!

Seems like LED's are coming into their own.

You know you can thank NASA for the leaps in led technology. They are the ones that have taken the lead in developing them for growing plants. So when people say the space program is a waste of money, just think of all the advances in technology that has come out of the program.
