Lighting California Lightworks SolarSystem 550 with Dutch Passion research variety

Anyone interested in the (truly excellent) California Lightworks SolarSystem 550 may find the following interesting. The SolarSystem 550 has a power draw of 400W. Most buyers use it to replace a 600W system and would use it in a 1.2 x 1.2m tent (4 feet x 4 feet) or a 1m x 1m tent if you are looking for super charged bloom results.

These pictures are from two separate 1m x 1m tents. Each tent contained two plants.
The plants are an unreleased research Haze variety which has been undergoing development and test for some time. The yields look great, it has an unusually fruity smell and fresh fruity taste. The effect is uplifting in the beginning, like a Sativa but after 30 minutes to an hour it really calms you down and gives a mellow effect. It's a really high THC variety and the yields look good.

The SolarSystem 550 is a powerful light and was hung at the top of the tent to avoid overly-intense light at the canopy level and stunting growth. The pictures were taken in 'white light mode'. This means that the red and blue LED circuits are switched off and just the white LEDs remain on. The white light mode is a convenient light in which to inspect and admire your plants. When the blue and red LEDS are on the normal color is purple.

The red, white and blue LEDs are on separate circuits. This allows the grower to tailor light spectrum for veg and bloom according to the requirements of the variety. It suits the experienced grower a little more than the rookie grower because some spectral knowledge really helps to get the most from this light. Experienced growers get great results and love the adjustability of the spectrum and intensity. The SolarSystem 550 can also be programmed with on/off times, sunlight and sunset modes (gradual intensity changes over a user-defined period, usually 10-30 min).

The SolarSystem 550 can be daisy chained together, up to 1000 lights at a time. This function was added for the large, mainly USA, legal producers. Some of these growers have several hundred or several thousand of these lights in their legal grow rooms.
