Ok so i harvested my blue diesel and wanted to let it cure for a while so i got some pretty killer Og of a buddy of mine. well i had the idea of taking out some nice buds of the og and putting it into mason jars with boveda pack because it was more dry then i like, ok so here is the thing when i put the buds into the jar they smelled like pure Og no mistake about it, but now that its been a couple of days the smell is alot more mild then it was before. the buds actually look better and are still kind of dry but i can tell the boveda pack has helped alittle bit. but im wondering where did all the smell go? i thought with me sealing it up and trying to store it in a better way it would maybe get stronger but all i have is really light lemon smell nothing like it smelled 3 days ago when i put it in the jar. can anyone tell me why this is?

The smell is always strong at first after chop.It will lose some smell as it dries and cures and this is normal.

MMMMMMMM oh yh as namvet say :thumbs:enjoy brv Peace Kudo.jpg,

Let me explain. Sorry I was alittle confusing. I'm not talking about my blue diesel I just chopped I'm talking about the og I bought off my buddy I put it in a jar because it comes from colorado and was way too dry by time it got to me and now it dosnt smell as much as it did when I first got it. I'm trying to figure out what's going on with that. Its only been a couple days and the smell has completly died down, on the other had the little bit I still have in a bag(what I'm smoking now) still smells the exact same as when I got it.

If that what you call "way to dry" was bellow 55% RH, then there is no way to recover this stuff with moisting it, what Boveda does if stuff is too dry (65 or 62, depending what you use). Drying is not reversible process, you can not just go to far and then go back without quality penalties.

I think such weed has to be put in a jar with as little spare room as possible, so that exchange of moisture will be as small as possible in the future, until you smoke it ASAP.

So, one part of your weed was put in unnecessary process of reviving and the second one not so it retained some smell I guess.

And if you want to have good taste and smell, many things should be done just right, from the input, which has to be good enough, do not expect too much from badly grown weed and of course all the procedures you use, should be done correctly.

Normally we all go through phases of satisfaction when grass is still alive and smells very nice, then we trim it and it starts to smell a little bit different, more weedy, and then smell slowly disappears and we get all worried and excited, what the f.is going on and then, slowly, slowly and nicely, if everything was done in a correct way, of course, smell starts to recover and at the end it makes us the happiest people in the world.

Not a single gas that we smell (all that we can smell are evaporated gases) after some time of curing was present when we had cut plant. Curing changes buds chemistry completely if buds are in the right moisture area in that time. If too wet, everything will burn and rot, if too dry, all the processes are stopped because water and gases has mostly left long ago. But they are needed in the process of curing.

No sorry I can't tell you why. Gonzo's sounds like a good explanation, could be right. I do know that the biodiesel I cut a few weeks ago was not that strong smelling. I had put some of her buds in a jar with Boveda 62% after they dried down to about 68% or so, when I took a bit out and ground it up, wow it had a strong smell. That really surprised me. Kinda the opposite of your experience. Well mine was not over dried.

I just want to be clear guys I'm not talking about anything I grew, I'm talking about the stuff I bought, the blue diesel is fine it still need cure this thread was talking about the og kush bought from my buddy, I just don't want u guys to think I ruined my blue diesel crop because its still sitting in the cure room waiting. Lol thanks for all the replies guys

my experience with og kush is it is best without a cure (please dont anyone throw rocks at me) , when i harvest and dry enough to bag it the smell is amazing , quite lemony skunky , but as it cures it becomes peppery

about trying to rehydrate dry bud , dont use anything non cannabis , take one of your semi wet blue diesel (or whatever strain) buds and put it in with the dry buds , the dry ones will suck moisture from the wet one , usually you can tell the difference between 2 strains and pull out the single bud used if you dont want em mixed once done

peace

Well, that was perfectly clear from your explanation.

I was guessing about your particular stuff and just added some words about the divine process that 90% or more growers totally forget about but it is so important - curing.
