My wife bought several Canagrow LED Grow lights on Amazon:

I've heard people complain that the coverage area is too narrow, but it looks wide enough to give reasonable coverage to a 7 gallon pot to me. You can see the coverage area in the picture. It's under $60 and looks vastly superior to lights like the Giixer, which sucks immeasurably and costs about the same.

My question: Who has made a serious effort to grow with these things? I'm only asking because they're really cool, completely self-contained and cheap.

I have no experience with Cob Rasterman but I do own one, it’s a
OPTIC 1 COB LED Grow Light 54W 3500k COB
Price:
€109

I just haven’t got around to testing yet, but I read  a single heavy yield is possible from the one Cob.. I purchased the additional coverage lense also..

Unvaccinated,

Nice! I didn't know they made that light - I never made the connection. I have the Optic II with a 25 gallon monster under it and I'm just starting to reach the edges of coverage. I'm very happy with that light.

Yes, please let us know how your first grow goes under it.

That Amazon light looks like a fire hazard waiting to happen, it needs a cooling fan which should be a non starter. I know it’s twice the money but if dabbling in COBs autocobs should be mentioned. I own one and don’t regret it. I would recommend a bar or panel light before the cob but that’s another matter, the versatility of a single cob is undeniable and I use mine to bump light over individual plants. I truly think the autocob is twice as nice as that Amazon light and still could be categorized as cheap and effective.

That light actually does have a fan, though it does run a bit warm. Thanks for the post!

If I remember correctly Cob’s are effective with Bud density? Could be completely wrong though..

Something else to play with, anyway. I was thinking (entirely hypothetically) that one could widen a wall enough to put 7 gallon plants inside their walls under cobs for a very discreet grow. Of course, burning down the house becomes a possibility if they generate too much heat.
