I feel like I had a 2 page conversation with you explaining the difference between crap lights and quality lights... you were concerned with the heat of the 48% efficient TGL so I broke down the wattage to direct light and heat "The passive 220w(4x55w) cxb3070 will be486micromoles of light and 388BTU/hr of heat." To compare, a generic ~30% 240w mono panel will be around 340micromoles and 571BTU/hr heat.
Atulip's led guide: Nothing wrong with inefficient mono leds, just don't get scammed by companies claiming to replace hps at half watts or less(impossible), toss a name like "cree" on the page and never list actual chips used(companies may put a single Cree chip just to advertise it), no ppf listed, or electrical efficiency(umol/j) or even total lumen output in some cases (be weary of single point par measurements, this is common to mislead) then they charge the price of a high end fixture..
I'll use the photon 6 as an example.
http://ledhydroponics.co.uk/photon-pro-630w.html
The first sign that something is up. Cree mentioned, but nothing specific. Next would be they call it a 630w light and list "4 cluster of 21 3 watt leds" it actually has 6 clusters in the photos, but besides that, 6 x 21 = 126x3w = 378w... where did they even get the 630w number? Are they using 5watt chips but they got confused?(126x5w)
This company doesn't even know what they're selling. Another thing to point out here is the wild claims. 240w better than 500w of hps.... maybe without a reflector and an old bulb.... another is the area covered. Even if this were a high quality highly efficient light(and I'm not saying that), 240w would only cover a 3'x4' area for seedlings....
Then the rest of the page is garbage, "quality lenses, quality fans" Next to a picture of a plastic(I'm sorry, I mean "lightweight") made in China fan.
The additional info page is the same garbage. They still don't know if they're 3 watt leds or 5.. now they only claim a 400w hps? Maybe next tab they'll have it right and list it as a 250w equiv.
Nope, but the 3 reviews from April 2015 to now(wonder what happened to all the other reviews?) page tells us the chips they're using are at least 4 years old technology
And with a little searching you can usually find the same thing from China. I could arrange for them to use a single Cree chip, paint it black, then resell these light for 5x the price using the same website as the photon 6.
