Day 4 autoflower, cotyledon and first true leaves are yellow

This is a photo of a Day 4 Mephisto CDLC, the cotyledon as well as the first true leaves have a distinct yellowing. To my knowledge this is how it sprouted, meaning the cotyledon leaves where yellow from day one. Is this normal? Should I be worried?

My setup is as follows. 4X4 Tent, Mars Hydro SP-3000 at 70cm distance, lowest brightness. Lux meter reads 5000 lux. Germination method: 24h in RO water, then placed in Rootit plug, watered with RO water only. The only issue that arose was that the orientation of the seed was wrong and the root was growing upwards in a "U", removed the seed with a tweezers and placed it correctly.

I plan this to be a hydroponic grow, a recirculatory dripping system (a DIY Atami Wilma system).

Quick question, when should I start CalMag? Do I need it ASAP or when I start fertilizing? (Will be using AN Sensi series)

She wants feed and water mate, an EC of somewhere around 400uS at that age should be enough. there's zero nutrients or mineral in the RO water which is why she is yellow.

Calmag is user preferences, i use specific coco feed that doesnt require supplements so cant comment on that one.

This is nothing to worry about. It will grow out of it. Use calcium and/or magnesium when the plants need it.. Not just because someone said to use it. Calmag should be the last thing on your mind right now, lol.

Yeah, I totally agree with you about Calmag. I have germinated enough seeds to know that it is not supposed to look like this and this is the first time i am using RO water so it got me a little worried. I have been using biotabs and light mix soil so far, so I am a little nervous. Got a second picture today and it looks like it is growing, so good news. I am, thinking I should lightly start fertilizing like Devondank suggested? Maybe prepare AN Sensi Grow at 400uS? It is a 6 days old seedling so it should be able to handle it, I guess?

Seedlings feed off of the cotyledons until the root zone is established. I would not feed that seedling anything at It's age.. It's simply lacking chlorophyll.. That is made through photosynthesis.. It will produce more as it absorbs light. The leaves will start to green up on their own. If it continues onto the new growth, then maybe there is an issue. But at this point, there is nothing to be concerned about.

Yes, new seedlings don't need externally-supplied nutrients for however many days. But cannabis seedlings naturally germinate and grow in soil with varying levels of nutrients, often fertile soil full of nutrients. A good portion of growers plant sprout seeds in their final pots and pre-charge their media with low-dose base nutes, such as 1/4 the full strength, or at least charge with kelp or other growth factor product, some live microbes, etc.

I'd have already transplanted that plug days ago into its pre-charged final pot, as soon as both any stem and root were visible; so with me the seedlings go into low-dose nutes at just 1-2 days old.

The plug looks a lot like a root riot or rapid rooter plug, which are both pre inoculated. He stated that he planned to grow this in a hydro system. Something tells me those plugs are for that purpose and have a food source. If they dont, the instructions should advice to soak them in a very light feed solution.

I've always presumed Root Riot, Rapid Rooter, peat pots, etc. are not charged with any nutes or live microbe cultures. Just now, looking at www.hydrodynamicsintl.com/root-riot-plant-starter-cubes-guide/ and the lack of the usual formal labeling for the fertiizer and microbes to me confirm nothing is added. They do promote use of a specific rooting gel.

The root plugs are from Root!t, they also offer a “First feed” liquid to add to water, which is a very light fertilizer, so I believe the plugs are not prefertilized. I started yesterday fertilizing with EC=0.45. I will see how it goes and increase it accordingly. The roots are already growing outside the plug so I guess I should soon put it in the hydro system. (Recirculating dripping system in a 9l hydroton plastic pot)
