Extraction Decarbing before making cannaoil?

Coconut oil can also be used as sexual lubricant, although it can damage latex condoms

Is it weird that I just got all sorts o' crazy ideas with this small piece of info...?

Afraid you are drawing a blank here blank.jpg .......what on earth could you possibly be on about think08.gif

By the way, came across this about decarbing

How to Decarboxylate Weed

Raw cannabis contains a lot of THCA which is not psychoactive (and what's the fun in that?). When you smoke weed, the THCA molecule loses its carboxylic group (COOH) in the form of water vapor and carbon dioxide and becomes THC. Long story short, THCA becomes THC and your cannabis becomes psychoactive. This process is calleddecarboxylation or decarbing.

When you smoke or vaporize marijuana, the cannabis is decarbed by the heat. If you ingest cannabis and want the full psychoactive effect, you need to first decarb your cannabis before you cook with it.

Temperature
The lower the temperature, the longer it's going to take to decarb your cannabis.
Keep in mind that a lower temperature will allow you to lose fewer terpenes.

What are Terpenes?
Terpenes are the pungent oils that color your cannabis with distinctive flavors such as berry, mint, citrus and pine. There are many medicinal benefits to terpenes; some will successfully relieve your stress while others will promote focus and awareness.

Decarboxylation Methods:

Flower / Buds

  1. Preheat your oven (see table above). Use an oven thermometer to check the temperature.
  2. Break down the large buds with your hands
  3. Distribute evenly across the pan
  4. Place in the oven
  5. Check on it after 20, 30 and 40 minutes (don't open the door fully)
  6. Make sure it's toasting evenly
  7. After 40 minutes it should be done - golden brown
Keif/Hash

  1. Preheat oven (see table)
  2. Sprinkle hash/keif on pie plate, cover with silver foil and crimp foil along edge of plate. Place sealed dish in oven for (see table).
  3. Remove plate and let it cool down slowly without removing cover to allow any vapors to reabsorb into cannabis.
Boiling Bag method:

  1. Place the cannabis flower/keif/hash into a boilable cooking pouch. Seal it.
  2. Place in boiling water for 90 minutes. Make sure water does not boil dry.
  3. Take bag out of water. Let it slowly cool before opening.
Cannabis Oil

  1. Place heat proof container of cannabis oil into a cooking oil bath (canola oil works well). Heat cooking oil to 121C/250F.
  2. Stir cannabis oil to break up bubbles.
  3. Remove cannabis oil from heat when bubble formation starts to slow down — or leave on heat until all bubbles stop for increased sedative effect.

What about people allegic to coconut???

Jumper, olive and avocado oil also work well. Avocado is the most stable of the 2. You can also use glycerin to make an extract although it takes longer for it to dissolve the cannabinoids.

Ok I never thought of avacado ive done olive im. It allergic to cocnut but one of my patients is so I make her batch before I make anything with coconut and I store it separate from everything. . I love using kerrygold unsalted high fat butter to make my canna butter.. and I make green dragon for sugar infused with thc

I have switched to coconut oil after I noticed all the medibles were using it, and I found out it was high in those fats. Looks like its the best stuff to use for this.

Well, Ive tried some of the coconut oil I cooked for 6 hours on low, and had the flowers decarb'd at ~225 for ~40 roughly. I have to say that after taking half my normal dose. I can notice a much more pronounced effect. The effects seem to last longer too.

Coconut oil is also absorbed immediately through your vascular system, kicks in faster than butter because you don't have to digest it first to get it into the bloodstream
I use mine topically also, if made right the decarb process activates the cannabinoids into the coconut oil it's not as strong as RSO so I'd only advise for arthritis or psoriasis or stuff like that, but definitely decarb makes the cannabinoids more immediately available for biouptake
words whee

Hmmm thatmakes perfect sense why this keif infused coconut oil worked so well on my friends super cramped hands. Man, cannabis is an amazing medicine.

If you don't like the taste or smell of raw coconut oil get Refined coconut oil, it is pretty much lacking in both.
