And anyone new to edibles, remember, it can take up to 2 hours before you feel it kick in. DON'T take more for at least two hours!
Long, slow decarb actually degrades THC, you want a fast decarb to get to peak conversion before degradation begins, you could be losing as much as 20% of your THC. I'd suspect other cannabinoids degrade also. This is why I've shortened my cooking time to 1 hour at 160F. Its hot enough to extract the cannabinoids from the material easily, but not hot enough to degrade it.
My decarb times are getting shorter all the time.
160 for 1 hour seems short, but if it works all is good.
My next batch I will be taking oil samples every 30/40 minutes for the duration of the decarb / cook time. By doing this I hope to get a choice of several profiles from the 1 strain.
Remember, I decarb first, not in the oil. the time and temp is strictly aimed at extraction of the cannabinoids from the plant matter. Don't know if I mentioned, I'm using a Magical Butter machine these days, makes for accurate control of the extract!
