Extraction Decarbing before making cannaoil?

And anyone new to edibles, remember, it can take up to 2 hours before you feel it kick in. DON'T take more for at least two hours!

Also a danger point before onset is the "are we there yet" feeling. This is not the time to top up your dose, it is a signal the high is near.

When I do a coconut oil cook I don't decarb in the oven, I use my cook time as the decarb.
95c for around 4 hours.
I am experimenting with shorter decarb times to bring out the sativa effects in my coconut oil.
Once the cook is completed the oil is ready for capsules.

Long, slow decarb actually degrades THC, you want a fast decarb to get to peak conversion before degradation begins, you could be losing as much as 20% of your THC. I'd suspect other cannabinoids degrade also. This is why I've shortened my cooking time to 1 hour at 160F. Its hot enough to extract the cannabinoids from the material easily, but not hot enough to degrade it.

My decarb times are getting shorter all the time.
160 for 1 hour seems short, but if it works all is good.
My next batch I will be taking oil samples every 30/40 minutes for the duration of the decarb / cook time. By doing this I hope to get a choice of several profiles from the 1 strain.

Remember, I decarb first, not in the oil. the time and temp is strictly aimed at extraction of the cannabinoids from the plant matter. Don't know if I mentioned, I'm using a Magical Butter machine these days, makes for accurate control of the extract!

It all makes sense now. The extraction phase doesn't take long at all.
I missed the bit about pre decarb and MBM.

I use the double boiler method for my cooks. Keeping it simple.
