Hey all :howdy:

I was doing a little research this morning and came across a great article discussing decarboxylation.

Decarboxylating Cannabis: Turning THCA into THC

It contains lab test results for before / after decarboxylation, as well as this awesome list of boiling points for cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids. The list should help to determine the ideal temperature for decarboxylation in order to preserve and enhance the most medicinal properties of our sacred plant.

(Copied and pasted - many thanks to Rambo @ MGHQ!)

Very nice...Thank you.

This is why I keep my temp. under 250 F when I make oil. I want to use all the cannabinoids.

Thank you kindly KS, I bookmarked this, definitely gonna keep this:smokebuds:blaze wit me bud.

Cheers, I'll get in on that! :smokebuds:

And to the left :pass:

Thanks Kindred!

Very nice Kindredspirit..... I will be keeping this info...:thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:

Thanks KS! :smokebuds:

Great post Kindred!
So in light of the temp variables listed what do we conclude the optimal temp for how long to get the best de-carb for our use?

Cheers fam. :smokebuds:

It would seem that the optimal temperature is in the 220-240 F range. Anything higher than 240 F and you start running the risk of vaporizing essential medicinal compounds.

As far as time frame for decarboxylation, it looks like 30 minutes for kief and 1 hour for trim / bud. If you're going to be doing trim / bud, it's not a bad idea to pull your tray out of the oven for 5 minutes around the 30 minute mark, and then put it back in for the remaining 30 minutes. This will let your pan / trim / bud cool down for a couple minutes and help guarantee that they won't get too hot during the second half of decarboxylation.
