New Grower Dimmable light. Where to start?

Hi,

I'm getting close to fire up my first grow. The plan is to fill my 4x4 tent with 4-6 WW auto fem's under a 600w HPS dual spectrum. For this first grow I'm going to use the HPS only ($750 budget maxed out). I have a dimmable ballast 250w, 400w, 600w

Anyone have ideas as for which wattage I should start with and for how long before I hit them with the full 600w?

Start your seedlings at 250w for a week or so then go to400w for another week or ten days then after that you can go 600w the rest of the way.
