Introduction
Hi folks, BillyWu here again for another strain review! As you guys know I'm quite an avid Dutch Passion grower, their strains are my favourites for growing. So far I've grown quite a lot of Think Different, with some AutoXtreme thrown in also. Today, I'll be reviewing one of their newest strains called StarRyder.
As always, I attempt to write this review with no bias. Dutch Passion have earned their place as my favourite seed company by their excellent seed genetics, but I won't let that be the judge of what I think of this strain. This review is my personal impression only.
The Strain
StarRyder is one of Dutch Passion's newest strains, having gone on sale back in late 2012 I believe. It is an autoflowering-feminized plant. This strain is different though. It is a shared project, consisting of Dutch Passion and Joint Doctor's best geneticists. It is based off of the Ryder strain, created and made famous by Joint Doctor.
As always, DP have attempted to set the record for yield and potency with this strain. It is expected to have an extra large yield with a THC content of approximately 15-19%, making it incredibly strong.
My impressions
Please bear in mind that whilst I was growing StarRyder, it shared a tent with two other plants, both of which were Think Different (also by Dutch Passion). Due to the small nature of my grow space, I cannot reflect on the maximum yield achievable from this strain.
From what I could see though, it WILL grow to be a big one, and it will most definitely put a smile on your face when harvest time comes. I got a nice 38-44g from mine in a space as small as about 1.25ft length, 1.25ft width and about 4.5ft depth. For such a small space, 38-44g is quite a nice yield for a soil grow! Had I given it the entire grow space to itself, I imagine it's possible (depending on grower skill and growing medium) to achieve yields in the hundreds of grams.
From my experience, it may not grow to yield as much as strains such as Think Different or AutoMazar (not grown by me, but I've seen huge yields from it) but it will trail in closely behind. You'll get a big harvest!
Smoke report
So far I've smoked it through my Volcano vaporizer and my bong. After drying and grinding it up, I found that it was exactly what I expected from DP's weed and it was nothing short of excellent. After just a few hits on the bag or a bong hit, I immediately felt a pleasant sensation. It felt quite uplifting and I frequently got massive laughing fits. It felt part head high, part body high. Overall it's top class smoke. I can't comment further as nowadays with the amount of weed I smoke, it gets difficult to differentiate between strain sensations.
As for smell, it smelt similar to Think Different. I can't comment on how it will smell after some curing, but right now it smells quite a lot like pineapple
Very sweet and pleasant, also very smooth when hitting it in the bong.Closing comments & ratings
Ease to grow - 10/10, as always with DP Autofems. The sky is the limit!
Quality of smoke - 9/10. Excellent quality, very crystally, visually appealing and a great smell.
Value for seed price - 8/10. I'd give it a higher mark, but the seeds are quite pricey. If you want some excellent quality smoke though, don't be put off! You will absolutely get what you pay for!
