First time everything here. I'm not far from harvest and I've managed to grow some decent sized colas (hey for a noob their decent :P ) and I need some knowledge and advice. I went and purchased some pretty massive jars. Mason Ball Jars 64oz / 1.8 liter in size as I measured my largest cola and it seemed to be a decent fit so I can drop it straight into the jar.
But then I started seeing pictures of cured buds in jars and I couldn't find any pictures with like whole colas in jars, so it got me thinking do peeps chop their colas up before/after drying curing? I have found plenty of info about drying and curing but nothing really on bud sizes and how to dry and cure big colas.
Is it better to chop the colas up into smaller pieces? Do you dry them first and them chop them up smaller for curing? How do you do this? Just chop them with scissors? Or do you deconstruct the cola itself by pulling a bud off at a time up the stem? Or can you cure whole colas at once? how do you do that?

Cheers :)

I cut off the buds from the main cola so no bud is longer than a standard lighter (roughly). I don't want bud rot and those big buds can take a while to dry out. Seems a shame I know, so take loads of pictures. I trim wet.

Cheers thanks for the advice. I was thinking you dry and cure whole colas. Taking them apart bud by bud makes sense and would be easier to dry and store. Lots of photos lol.

Dry ypur buds broken up until The leaves go crispy, so your manure just with your fingers.... dry them bone dry,,,,, the harvest buds always bounce back once in there jars,,,, remember cannabis once harvested is 75 percent water, meaning you will lose 75 percent weight, so try too remove all that water.

64 temperature in f

And 50 humidity

These above are guide lines for good dry out.... aim for upto 15 days solid dry.... make sure humidity is controlled otherwise you can easily add moisture back into the buds. Also make sure room is pitch black, and you control heat and humidity,

Drying is the most crucial part, jar them up when there damp and the weed will be complete unesless. Smokable but god knows with what grown on it, it will lose It’s colour and terpene if cured wet, curing is the opposite and is meant too add taste. And break down things lol. And it’s still a living plant even once harvested.
