Lighting Dutch Passion Auto X - First LED Grow (need tips)

Hello everyone,

My setup:

1x 400W Mars II light
2x 125W large CFL 6300K
3x 105W large CFL 2700K
2x small fans
Tent stays open for circulation
AC will be on in the summer to regulate temp.
No extraction fan due to space issues


My plants:

2x AutoXtreme from Dutch Passion about 13 days old


Question:

I know my setup is ghetto but i would like to hear any improvements.

1.) Is the light far enough from the plants?
2.) I noticed there is no way to ajust the hight of the Mars II what can I do once the plants grows higher?
3.) Is the CFL + LED a good combo in order to increase my yield?
4.) How far away should the top leaf be from the light?
5.) 78F to 82F temp atm too high?

I'm by no means an expert, I only have a couple grows under my belt but I do have a couple follow up questions which could help other members better guide you:
1) How big is your space and the airpots that the Dutch Passions are in? I've never grown that strain but if they get really bushy and your space is too small then that could be an issue.
2) Is the Mars II light you have the one with 5W LEDs instead of the usual 3W? If so, I would think that light alone would be more than sufficient for two plants at this stage but in mid-flower adding the CFLs wouldn't hurt.

I have the same issue with temps in my tent, it averages between 75-78 and I've noticed some curling of my fan leaves due to heat stress

Hi,

1.) Should be enough space I did 2x AutoX already and it was enough. This strain gets tall
2.) Mars II is 5w reflectors are 3w. You mean the other lights are too much atm? 90cm X 50 cm x 180cm in inches 35 x 20 x 65

I would think the Mars II alone is sufficient atm, according to the MarsHydro site the coverage area for the 400w Mars II is 3'x3' and the recommended hanging distance is 18"-24"(http://www.mars-hydro.com/led-grow-light/mars-ii-series)... have you noticed any curling of the leaves due to the heat like my plant?

Hey Cyklos, I see you went with the Mars II... I think you'll be happy with your purchase. As already mentioned that LED will be more than enough for the first month or so, the CFL's can be good for some extra side lighting during flowering though. I'd keep the light at 24" minimum at least through veg phase, then lower to 18" for flower. Also most lights don't include adjustable hangers, you need to buy them separate... just look on amazon or ebay (Here's a link to the ones I use). And your temps are fine, that's actually right around where you want to be when using LEDs.

Hey Hansbricks thanks for your response! Yes I took your advice and went for the Mars II and so far so good !! Except I'm a bit disappointed that they didn't include adjustment options :/
At the moment i have it at 18 inches distance... to close according to your response.... The problem is i cant bring it higher up now I will have to get rid of the stand in the picture in order to do so....
Even if I do that I only have 56 inches to work with and the Dutch Passion AutoXtreme get very fking long man.... I'm a bit worried now to be honest ..... :/
You know its weird when I put my hand under it doesn't even get warm, I don't really understand how it can burn under 18 inches.... would interest me TBH


About the temperature when should I start getting worried around 85 F? with CFL it was always around 78 F....
I took your advice and turned off all the CFL's i had for now because you said the 400W CFL will be enough for the next 3-4 weeks.

Hey good luck buddy i hope you will be happy with your panels... Just buy hangers on ebay or amazon and finish it... it wont make any problems if u let them 1-2 days more with 18 inchs
