I am actually going to split the plug too so the tap has a path to follow to get out the bottm instead of fighting to get through.

yeah that is also what I was thinkin is that the RR material might be a little too "tight" if you will. So giving it a pathway is a great idea I think

Done and Done. I soak the beans for 12-24 hours because I can see them actually crack open then in they go. The paper towel method bothers me because If you dont check them at the right time the taps can get all spindly and stuck to towel or just get to leggy. Seed back in net pot with humidity dome over its head. They likely have been surfacing before they are ready then. The leaves are always thin and spindly. Likely why I guess.

If I ever see them or think they are gonna kick the bucket I plop them in dirt and they take right off. Hell I have a Dark Devil now that is almost done in soil from the same scenario. I want to get one of these bitches done in DWC so I can get a killer haul of that Paki Kush they hail from!

I don't know. I do about the same as you and haven't had issues. Maybe I just got lucky... And like you said maybe it's just impatience... Let us know how it goes man!!

that's a mad problem dude I'm only on my third bubble bucket grow I germ like you do in root riot plugs but ive started using these

6 inch root pruning pots with the bottom cut out and 2 inch pots glued in with aquarium sealant put your root cube on top of the 2 inch pots and top up with hydroton ive got 2x 2 day olds now but one of my tap roots is already longer than yours do you wash the shit out of your hydroton and ph it sorry I'm a newbe to dwc myself just throwing out some possible answers

Hydroton gets a vinegar bath and gets baked at 200f for 45 minutes.

Best way ive found to pop seeds is just the glass of water method i soak seed for 24 hours in regular tap water then place in plug about 1 cm down the trick is to keep her well hydrated the earlier you put her in the net the harder it is because you need to constantly feed her if you dont have a dripper or she will just stall out ,you cant even see in some cases if the plug is soaking enough fluid if its like say covered with hydroton for example and has no base to soak from properly with surety the water line will always remain in the perfect position,seeds have the energy of a nuclear bomb they pass this on to the seedling for the first two weeks of its life but they do need constant real hydration without drowning ,id say thats where your problems lay. calcium and chlorine also play major roles in root growth.also light cycles ,plants need the dark to maximize root growth 14 hours of light being ideal for small seedlings especially under heavy lighting ,can also cause lumen penetration damage

Yeah I have them in my 24/7 room I need a seedling room. Maybe in my bedroom under a cfl

These are not wet by any means. They are damp but I always give them a squeeze and then a few shakes. I would leave it on the germ mat longer till they got their true leaves but then I would be worried the roots would rip coming out of tray. If it was a phot it would be like meh who cares but it would likely be the end for a auto

Ah yeah ..Try not to squeeze your plug as it creates air pockets not good soak and shake a little but really the more the merrier

i just hand wash mine with tap water but make sure there of a good quality and air dry. soak the whole lot constantly and flush with bennies and mfungi especially in new systems.
