New Grower First auto, First grow. i Think its going good?

Light upgrade

just a quick update.

I was having a little trouble with my temperature creeping over 30 degrees on occasions. and I'm still waiting on my smaller fans to arrive so i can put them in the tent and start pushing some of that hot air up to the extraction unit and out the tent.

In the mean time i found a laptop cooling base that i was not using, that had two 12V fans in it. so i took the fans out, wired them up to a 12v adaptor (most wireless routers use a 12v charger) and attached them to my light cover, so the fans are blowing air onto the bulb. it has worked great and i managed to drop my temperatures 1-2 degrees.

And the plants are looking great as well

thanks

DAY 15, slight leaf curling

hello fellow growers.

so i have reached day 15! whop whop!

so the plants have started their rapid growth. I check every morning so see how they are doing and the progress is astonishing.

My temps and humidity have now evened out to 27-28 degrees/40-45% RH (lights on) and 19-20 degrees 45-50% (lights of)

i started my feeding program yesterday (14th day) on plants that where planted on the 8th of December.
i am currently using Top Crop - Top veg (see attached pictures) with a 25% dilution.

The only problem i am having is that i do not have a digital Ph pen. (its in the mail) so i am having to do it old school. therefore my Ph values are not as accurate as i would like. and in turn i think my nutrients mix is around the 7.0 + Ph range.

Therefore i noticed some of the leaf's on certain plants showing a little curling. so i did a little research, and it said it could be water Ph, heat, over feeding? any idea or is it something i should not worry about?

any comments would be helpful.

here are some pictures as always

regards,
Trustfullytasty

DAY 19, steady progress

hello fellow growers!

Update from day 19.

progress had been good with the plants growing at a good rate, the plants are all looking nice and healthy, apart from one that appears to have nutrients burn, but only on one leaf? is that normal that it can only show on a single leaf?

All the plants now are being fed veg nutrients, at a slowly increasing
concentration stating with 25%. They all appear to be taking it well with no signs on nutrients burn. and look all around pretty happy.

My schedule for feeding is: i feed them nutrients on one day and then wait for them to use it all up(3 days normally), then i will water them with just plain Ph water, wait 3 days-ish and then feed nutrients. so i feed them around every 6Th Day +/- 1 day. and it appears to be going well.

one plant i believe she has shown sex as-well. so a good week thus far.

Finally the plants have started to smell so i have ordered a charcoal filter that will be fitted tomorrow.

as always here are some pictures.

thanks,
trustfullytasty

Looking good bud, best of luck with the rest of the grow. Here's a little :karma Cloud: for your ladies!

Looking good thus far. Guess you got your PH pen?? Thats going to help you a lot.

looking good, you might want to drop that ph feed range to 6.5 the optimal point for your girls to absorb all nutrients

Day 26...to many plants

Hello fellow growers! wish you all a great 2014 with many great grows and even bigger yields!

so it has been a week since my last update. i am now at day 26 and the plants have gotten WAY bigger since day 19. i think i may even have to many plants in the tent. so i think i may have to take the runts of the litter out. i truly did not expect all the seeds to germinate and even more so for all the plants to make it this far.......

Anyways, on a more positive note my set up is finally complete. i managed to get a carbon filter that is set up in a slightly unorthodox manor since i went cheap with the extraction fan(mistake), so the filter is installed as close the the extraction unit to be-able to pull out as much air as possible.

i also got a couple of little USB fans. and a in-line fan to put air into the tent. so the tent in working perfectly...apart from the lack of space.:stoneslap:

The pH pen finally arrived today after a couple weeks in the post. so first things first i tested my water supply. i was shocked to see it read 8.0! so i calibrated the pen, retested and i got a reading of 7.7! i then mixed up a batch of feed to test the pH and that turned out to be 7.5. so with out me knowing i have been watering and feeding the plants with a slightly higher pH solution that i thought or want. but the plants are looking good so i cant really complain, so im going to check the pH of the run-of tomorrow and see what that tells me. If i need to lower the pH of my feed solutions what the best way?

A couple of plants where also showing some slight brown/rust coloured spots on the leafs, so i a did a bit of research and i narrowed it down to a calcium deficiency. so i went out and got a bottle of Grotek cal-max and that fixed the problem.

Finally i also picked up some flowering nutrients and booster in preparation. but i have read to not start feeding them flowering nutes till week 4-5, or until vertical growth stops? also i saw the bio-bizz indoor try pack 250ml on sale for 10 euros! so i had to buy it. so 3 plants are on bio-bizz and the rest on Top crop

P.s leaf tucking, yes or no?

thanks,
trustfullytasty

WooHoo!!!
Lookit that tent full O' green goodness!!
Ya I decided four was almost too much for my tent! Unbelievable isn't it. You have the touch my friend! They all look so nice, green healthy, and BIG! Nicely done, indeed!!
pH the run off is a good idea. Like you said tey are doing really well. Mine were fussy about the pH. I used pH down from the up down kit that had a bottle of pH up and pH down. Use the pH down regularly, my tap is 7.6 on average.
Sounds like you nipped the calcium in the bud, no pun intended. Nice.
Carbon filter looks great, may want to invest in a pre-filter to keep the larger gunk from clogging the carbon, might help the filter last a bit longer. Nice job on the install too.
Man such a great job, I'd be jealous if I wasn't so happy for ya!!
I think a big :slap: is called for here!!

thanks wwwillie for the kind words of encouragement! i was looking at your grow aswell man! that one picture of the bud up close was intense!:tiphat:

i checked the Ph of the run off today and it was around the 6.5 - 6.9 through all the plants so that's a positive.

finally i also moved the four smallest plants out of the tent and under some CFL's to give the biggest plants more space to grow and hopefully up my yield on them. ill upload some pictures soon of the second grow area.

thank!

Split the Grow, 5 plants under 400w HPS, 4 plants under 125w CFL

so i may have been a little ambitious thinking that i could get 10 plants into such a small tent....lesson learnt for next time. :stoneslap:

i have kept the 5 biggest plants under the 400W HPS and moved 4 of the smaller plants under 4 25W CFL and 1 25W tube that you may notice from my first post :)

it appears that the plants that are now under the CFL's are enjoying their new environment, not having to fight for space. as well as the plants in the tent that now have more light getting to the lower budding sites. so i think it was a smart move, but only time will tell.

CALLING ALL COOL TUBE USERS!!!
As the plants in the tent are getting taller they are getting close to the light, therefore increasing temperatures. so i am thinking to invest in a cool tube. i have read up on them and they say that they can lower temperatures by up to 4-5 degrees? is that true, or just marketing propaganda?

finally here are some pictures of the new set up. Along with pictures of the Twin that has been hiding in the back of the tent. both stems are the exact same. i think its pretty beautiful

thanks in advance,
