Hi

I am currently doing a coco grow (first grow ever), with greenhouse's Kalashnikova autoflower.

I am growing 2 plants, which are 20 and 13 days old (had some trouble with a seed, so that is why they are 1 week apart).

So far i feel like it is going great, they are both looking good and big especially the 20 days old 1.

However,i have a question about the roots. On the big plant, there are more and more roots sticking out of the pot into the tray where all the run-off water is. Basically the roots are constantly in water because the trays are always semi full. Is this bad or good or does it not matter?

Being the first grow i have ever done i am also not sure how tall a plant should normally be at 20 days old? the one i got is pretty big but not that tall, more bushy and wide.

I will upload some pics ASAP so you guys can see how they look

some advice would be very helpful, thanks

Hi There :)

You can put your pots on little feet (or just raise them) so that the bottoms aren't left sat in water even if your tray is half full.
That's what i do :)

But is it not too late to empty the trays for water since the plants already have roots in the trays?

So here are the plants in case anybody was wondering.
The big one was planted may 15 and the smaller one was planted may 22

looking good dude welcome to afn will help out in any way i can even though im a newbie like yourself as far as your roots dude when you empty your water they should die back into the pot had one of mine do that and didnt seem to bother her good luck with the rest of your grow you seem to be doing great :pass:

They look super good. Could not see any roots though.
Are the trays supposed to have that much water in them? If they are sitting in stagnant solution, that could go bad. If its like a bubble bucket kinda thing then maybe not. Water needs to be moving and fresher like. Make sense?

they are sitting in 3 gallon pots and atm i water them about half of liter per day
When i water them, it flows quickly through the coco and perlite that is why i dont empty the trays since then it wouldnt really matter? maybe i should try and take the water from the trays and pour it into the coco again, after the trays have been filled?
But so far the roots in the trays are huge, they look like centipedes
