Indoor First Grow 2x4 Tent 600 W HPS

That is correct Mrbubbles, HPS is going to run quite a bit hotter than MH.

Thanks 420! I've been trying to research it online and I'm finding different answers everywhere. Some people swear MH is hotter than HPS but I'm def seeing a 5 degree increase. Unfortunately before I was already at the threshold of 84 so I've got to figure out how to get it back down again. In the meantime hopefully running it at 250 vs 400 will be enough to lower it. I didnt have time to confirm it and won't be able to check for 4hrs. I've heard 90 degrees won't kill them though so I'm sure they'll be ok until I get home.

Now the problem is if its not a leak and it is the light my options are limited. I will either have to move the tent from under my stairs into a spare bedroom (which means it wont be very stealth anymore) or get a larger fan to exhaust the air from under my stairs (need to spend at least $20) or upgrade from a 4in booster intake to a 6in booster intake where I'll need to spend $20 to buy 2 reducers so my 6in booster fan fits my ducting.

Do you think it's worth the effort of running 400 vs 250? Because I'm pretty sure it will stay under 85 running it at 250. I could even add a few t12's for a littler extra wattage.

This will be my only grow in this tent with this light. My next grow I will be upgrading to a 4x4 tent in which case temps won't be nearly as big of an issue.

I am reading through your journal now, gimme about 10 minutes to answer your questions.

90 is pretty hot, they won't die but they will stunt in that temp. Anything above mid 80's is not good.

I don't think upgrading to a 6" fan is going to help you, you will gain more flow putting 2 - 4" fans inline, one on intake and one on exhaust if you are going to go that route. I would personally try to find a way to get cooler air under your stairs. I don't if there is a AC duct nearby you could tap in to and try to get it that way or pull from another area in the house.

I don't know that 400 is going to be a lot greater but every little bit of lumens helps. I think the T12 would probably add to your problem. I know they stay cooler but in that closed off area even 5 degrees begins to add up quickly.

If this is your only grow I might would try to find something you can use with the next tent so you aren't wasting your money. Maybe a 6" inline that you could use to pipe some cooled air in from another area.

The plants look gorgeous by the way!

Hey thanks for reading through everything. I know it's huge so sorry about that. Just trying to document everything for future grows.

Let me elaborate on a few points. First, what I meant by upgrading my fan is I currently have a 4in duct booster fan bringing cool air from under the stairs at ground level. I do have a 6in booster fan laying around which I could replace the 4in with but Id need to get reducers to make it fit my ducting.

I am also currently running a 440cfm inline exhaust fan but the problem is for stealth I have to shoot the hot air in the same room as the tent under the stairs. I then have a small vent with a clip fan blowing the hot air from underneath the staircase. I believe this is my main problem because the room gets too hot which means the tent gets too hot. My solution for this is cutting a hole in the wall to the adjacent room and this could either act as a passive intake for the room or I could hook my intake ducting into the other room to try and get cooler air.

Otherwise I could upgrade the clip fan to try and blow more hot air out of the room. I just need to buy myself a few weeks before I can move the tent into another room. I might just switch back to my MH in the meantime because then my tempts were consistently 82-84 running at 400watts. When I run home to check in a bit here if the temp is still over 85 running it on 250watts I'm going to be forced to do something soon.

Thanks again for all the great info and for stopping by!

Well just got done checking on them and the temp was 87 running the light at 250w :( I did move my intake duct into my bedroom.

I still can't believe the temp difference on the HPS and the MH. How long can I use MH before I have to switch to HPS?

I think I'm going to try and switch back to the MH for the next 2 weeks. Otherwise Im going to move the tent to another room.

I noticed a crazy heat difference whenI switched over to HPS also. I knew it had more lumen output but underestimated the heat difference
. I could touch my MH cooltube at 600w and it was barely warm. Within like 4 inches os the closest I can get with the HPS bulb without scortching them.

maybe a simple duct fan designated to the cool tube, and standard intake for the tent?

Thanks for the comments skatter! Wasn't sure if you were still on here. I just thought of an idea I haven't tried. I haven't tried fully connecting the cool tube. What I mean is I could hook up my intake duct to the cool tube instead of running it to the floor. Then I'd hook up the 4 in booster fan as a separate exhaust. Think I might try it tonight.

Awwww....never mind just remembered I need the cool tube to double as the exhaust for my carbon filter.

Yeah Ive been popping my head in every omve in a while. Lifes been crazy lately, still trying to lay low until I hear back from the seedbank. Ill see if customs nabbed them and tried any sneaky shit. because becausethere wasnt the customs tape when they delivered. Been out of smoke for almost a month now, im fucking dying over here LOL.

I was thinking it would be a good idea to run an isolated duct like through the cooltube, as it wouldnt need to be filtered since it wont contact the air in the tent.

So standard ventilation "Cycle", if you will, would be:
Filter --> Duct ---> Inline fan ---> Exhaust duct running out of tent

Then to cool the light you would have

Booster fan pulling air from OUTSIDE tent (cooler air) ---> Cooltube --> exhaust out of tent.

That would give you cooler air to cool the light, less duct resistance, and the air cooling the light wont need to be filtered since it doesnt contact the stank in the tent

Can't believe you've been out a month. I can't even go a single day without my meds. Always broke because of it tho. Hopefully that'll be changing soon :)

Still think your in the clear buddy but I understand the caution. I'm dreading the day I have to order more seeds.

Your idea with the light sounds worth a try. I could use my 6in booster fan to exhaust the light and pull air through the cool. Then I can run my inline fan to my carbon filter for the exhaust out of the tent. Thanks for the great idea buddy!

Anytime, considering doing it on my tent so I figured I wouldnthrow it out there.

And yeah, its awful being out of smoke... No drugs or booze either. Its like a fucking nunnery over here. Its no way for a grown man to live, Ill tell you that... Told myself id be 100% clean until harvest, and it fucking blows. I can barely function and have no inspiration to do anythijg creative, and my philosophocal thought feels flatlined. Itsnlike "Reality" sucks the fucking life out of me lol. Im just looking forward to the amazing experience of harvesting my own smoke, and the first smoke session I will get that amazing virgin high again. I cant fucking wait, it will be like a canna-baptism haha

Seeds are just a bad idea until I can get somewhere safento order to. I mean all they have to do is defide they want to fuck you, and they can... Its kind of scary, so im trying not to be too casual. My multisex bitch has. wheelbarrow full of nutbsacks, so hopefully I can get some nice critical jack seeds.

Ill have to PM you some pics soon if i ever get around to getting batteries for my camera lol. The jack is getting super frosty. Its very exciting once those little white hairs start plumping up and showing their crystals
