New Grower First grow! A journey of learning and hope

Nice setup you got there pop22! Best of luck with the grow.

For your friend with Lyme disease I would definitely recommend he tries cannabis. I also suffer from Lyme and while I haven't tried RSO yet (it's something I plan to try) it provides some much needed symptom relief. To just be able to relax for a few hours is priceless.

We would all like to hear from you if you do try some type of oil. You'll probably want some type with high CBD. I wish you success with finding relief, and hopefully even a cure, it seems anything is possible with this amazing plant! You know, 6 months ago that would not have been something I'd say. I'm a skeptic in all things and doggedly pursue credible information before I accept anything. When I'm being told, something is a miracle cure that will treat many symptoms and diseases, my reaction is, yea right.... But the more I've looked into this the more convinced I've become that, cannabis is like no other herb on Earth. So far, it seems to me to be the ONLY " miracle" medicine.

I hear you! Skeptical and cynical, that's me. Started this journey just to get some stash for my head. Decided to be legal and pursue the medical aspects and am amazed at what I have read about it. Don't mistake the amazement for belief! I have some personal experience now though and as empirical as my evidence is, this I believe!! In the four times I have used my "medicine" via vaporization I have found relief from my shoulder pain. I am pretty happy about that! Insomnia, not that much, but that's a strain thing, trying a different strain next week.
I hope for and sending all good and positive vibes your way for this to be what you want and need it to be!
Peace!

I will post an update when I've tried it. It will not be until summer though as I will need 2 grows to get enough material to make a decent sized batch. At the moment I'm growing DP AutoBlueberry. I saw an analysis where they measured 1.3% CBD, while not that high I believe it's a bit more than the average strain. I'm thinking about doing a photo grow next to try out one of the new CBD strains from Dutch Passion, probably the CBD kush.

I found this article through AFN, in case you or your friend hasn't seen it:
http://www.collective-evolution.com...s-oil-on-lyme-disease-and-lyme-co-infections/

I also found this paper on the antibacterial properties of some cannabinoids:
http://pubs.acs.org/doi/full/10.1021/np8002673

So there is at least a possibility that it could work against Lyme disease. What is not known is to what extent the blood serum deactivates the cannabinoids.

I'm also a skeptic and not sure if it will work but after dealing with Lyme disease for 8 years it's at least worth a shot as I don't have many options left.

Thank you for the links, and good luck. Yes I'm guessing about the same time frame to be able to start making oil. Let's keep in touch and compare notes.

Its amazing! I thought my plants would suffer at least some minor shock from transplanting them the way I did. NO! Just since yesterday, the leaves have become noticeably bigger and the stems have thickened! They haven't missed a beat and seem to be thriving! I'm stoked! "pher Wiggle"

I ph'd the water to 5.8, added GH Maxi Grow to a ppm of 292.
Just a dumb question : I understand it right? You phed water than you add nutrition mix. What was ph reading after you add nutes? Or it was 5.8 after all your manipulations where done?

I checked before adding the nutes but not after. I read and discovered on my own not to mess with the ph after adding the nutes. I checked the res just now its at 6.4 so I'll adjust it a bit. Added PH Down, res now at 5.8. PPMs 302 Res temp is a bit high at 76F. Mt babies are looking great! Will post pics later as I have to turn off the MH to get decent pics.

Not sure I trust this cheap Chinese PH meter either, it makes me nervous. Will up grade as soon as I can. At least my EC meter is a good one, a HM TDS-3

Hey,
Glad to hear the transplanting went well.
pH, that is a tough one, until you are satisfied that your readings are accurate, there is always that uneasy feeling. I am just to new at this stuff to "know" what my plants need, I need to assure myself that things like pH are what they are supposed to be so I can rule that out. Anyways I am rambling... I spent about $25.00 on calibration and storage solutions fro my pH meter and consider it money well spent. Even a cheep meter that is calibrated while you use it should give some confidence. Then when you upgrade you will also know that the new one is calibrated and stored properly.
