Hello everyone, its my first time growing or even think about it.
but i'am determined to learn more!

this is what i do.

i'am using 5 gallon pots, and 125W cfl in vegetation and a 600w HPS lamp in flower. Should this be more even and change it?

Equipment:
None, only good space and what you see above.
The walls are painted with reflective white paint.
And ofcourse a wide reflector.
Any thoughts? When should I nute in flower and how much for an autoflower, because i've heard horrors about it.

I will add some pics as soon as they sprout. Maybe tomorrow

And lastly, I have an idea about watering.
Would it be beneficial to water 2-3 days apart but with half of what you would in the 5-7 day period apart? this is only in vegetation I thought this would work.

Hi Knockout - Welcome to AFN! :D

Sounds like a good start :) there's a few bits missing which are kind of essential for a trouble free grow, but it's always best to build these things up as needed rather than just going out and buying loads of stuff :)

The 600watter should be good for 3 plants in flower - I'd think to get the best out of them in veg, you may need a bit more CFL power (or maybe even use an exteneded blue spectrum 600w HPS bulb (sylvania growlux (i think)) all the way through!)

What soil or medium were you thinking of using - don't rush into this becuase not all soil is equal and it will determin what kind of nutes your gonna want to buy.

We don't suggest heavily nuted soil (soething like biobizz light or plagron light have been popular here).

How much? - some people say max dosage should be 50% of what they recommend on the bottle

When? You;ll need to feed in both Veg and Flower to get the best out of her. I feed every time. (except for final cleanse)

I'll leave the early watering advice to someone else :) I find it difficult to explain properly.
When the plant is established and big - i Personally will water until i get 20% run off at the bottom (to be caught in a tray - not the floor lol) - I wont water again until i feel the pot is light. (this is called a wet and dry cycle .. not everyone agrees with it (there's quite a bit of personal preference involved and people use the methods that work best for them)

Thanks for your introduction!
I look forward to seeing your first harvest! :)

Happy growing

Sorry - A bit more i meant to say.

Missing bits include:

Good Out Take fan
Good Carbon filter
Inside movement fan.
PH Down
PH Measureing Pen (not a really cheap one.. not a liquid tester)

That should get your rock and rolling.

A 600w HPS will be quite hot. If your space is small, it may be difficult to cool -

Hey and Welcome!
Blue said most of it already.
Watering is tricky when they are just sprouts that's for sure. Experience is the best teacher. If you think about the plants roots needing to breath air like the rest of the plant it may help you. The trick is to get enough moisture to the right place. Too much and it cannot breath and things start to rot, not enough and it dries out starts to wilt. Add to the fact autos like to be started in their final home, watering a little seedling in a big pot also has it's challenges. I generally try to water in a ring around the seedling about two inches or so out, using just a small amount. You have to try it to see. When they get bigger it gets easier! I use the same method as Blue with perhaps a bit less runoff. Patience and care are what's needed is all. The hardest thing for me is watering, but I am getting pretty good at it now and so shall you! Don't let it get to overwhelming, and trust me it can, and you'll be fine.
You made a great decision to join AFN, so just keep it up and we'll keep you growing!!
Peace and Happy Growing!

The wet/dry cycle is about the best way to keep your plants happy. Slowly water your plants with water until you get at least a 20%-25% runoff. If you pour in 1 quart of water then you should get about a one cup runoff. I water/feed my 3 gallon SmartPot with one gallon and I get 3-4 cup runoff. The container should be heavy now. Then wait until the container gets light; then repeat. This method is by far the easiest and allows the roots to get the oxygen that is necessary for good plant growth. Cannabis likes a period of dryness so the roots actually search for moisture. Make sure your soil has is light and with good drainage too.

Best of luck and enjoy. Be patient. It'll take almost 12 weeks for you to get a good harvest.

Hey blue and willie
Thanks for the welcomes and thanks for the advice man, i appreciate it.
I think this will be a great grow.

About my air system, the grow room is 9 square metres or around 30 square feets, so will it be that important? Got windows and ventilators on my plants.

Could it be possible to grow the plants big with a 125w cfl lamp? or do i have to get a bigger one.

Peace out from denmark :Sharing One:

hi and welcome.
I like others had watering issues on first 3 grows.what is a light pot ? I did lift pots up and down a few times to gauge the weight of dry pot,but I cant remember now.so I filled up a spare pot with soil, left it sitting in the corner no seed so never watered.if im not sure to water or not,I lift it up.

Hm alright thanks for the tip BayLee.:smoke:
do you think this'll work with topsoil

Me again!
Topsoil should be fine but needs to be mixed with a lot of something to make it airy and lite. I use perlite, but there are peats like pro mix, coco, and other amendments. The soil I use is Fox Farms Happy Frog, I only mention it because it is already fairly light with some perlite among other things and to this I add more perlite to a 2:1 ratio of soil to perlite. Soils are funny, people have their own recipes and swear by them. I started to get a little crazy reading about all of the different mixes and decide to pick a popular brand and start from there! There are some good ones (recipes) here but I can't find my list of threads ATM.
Peace

You'll need to "air" out the top soil. Top soil is going to be too "heavy". The roots need to be able to search for the moisture. Getting a good potting soil is your best bet. I'm not an expert on fixing or manufacturing a good potting soil. You'll need to add perlite and some organic matter to truly get a soil that will make your grow actually grow.

There is an AFN thread that is all about soil https://www.autoflower.org/f26/. Go to the thread and ask what you can do to improve your top soil.
