New Grower First Grow Ever- HYDRO - Auto - Journal

I hope im posting this in the right place, hate to be that guy....

[edit- ok i want to be clear. by first grow i mean ive never grown anything in my life, and ive studied this marijuana grow for about 4 months and decided, hey what the hell, lets do it. ive read the different forums for the past 6 months though, and im still trying to grasp everything as far as terminology (like 0:2:1 ratio, ec?) etc and reading a lot of other grow journals for help but its hard to find one with the setup im running for a tutorial, so i figured id start a journal to seek help since i dont quite understand it aall. ]

ok, how ya'll doin, im new here and have been searching a lot of forums online to look for inspiration and help on my upcoming project and i found that autoflower best suits me.. i have ordered the following and im going to start a hydro grow as soon as they get here. these items cost me around $600 all together. Live in the midwest so the temp is perfect, but climate is controlled. indoor grow.

everything was ordered about four days ago and am waiting on them to get here. This will be my first ever grow so any beginning advice, tips or things i missed in my purchase let me know.

I'll keep posted as things arrive and the process goes.


and one question. what turns weed into "mids" or "reg". if grown properly shouldnt all strains be "loud" or "dank"?

Hey man, just wanted to say, I'm in pretty much the same boat as you. Totally new to growing anything. I was in your shoes waiting for stuff to arrive about 3 weeks ago. I'm in my first week and keeping my fingers crossed. Its a lot of fun, but can be a little nerve wracking at first. Enjoy it though, I'm learning so much thanks to this site.

The fan came today. Packed tight in box as expected. No worries

3.15.2013 the day of boxes
The advanced growers bundle came today.bottles smaller than expected lol. The lighting kit also came package nice and tight. The while system was vet heavy. The reflector was crap tough. The nutrients came as well as the ph balancer. The ph balancer had a broken case but came with a return sticker.I might replace it.gota see if it works

03.18.2013 in my mailbox
The sensi boom stuff arrived today. In the mail box not brought to the door. One liter each.

03.19.13 my letter from the queen
My seeds came today regular postal mail with small zip lock of each seed.plus my two bonus seeds. It was an envelope in an envelope

03.21.13 everything
The last pieces came today and its smaller than u thought it would have been definitely s beginner system which is good. Assembling this afternoon.

Assembly
Light- the reflector was missing two screw holes and the ones on there were poorly lined up but i got it to work.

Tent- the tent took about ten minutes but was easy to build and install. My lights hangers and the bars on the tent were not compatible with eachother. It had s lot of spaces for ventilation and the spots you didn't want it, it had Mylar movable wall or ties to tie it shut. Its about five feet tall.

Seeds have cracked out of their shells in tent, and are still in dark. Im havng some humidity problems and would take any advise on that. my guage reads its DRY at 32%RH and 77.9%F in my tent. but since the seeds are in rockwool does it matter what the humidity is? Im also wondering what the PH should be of my water at this stage. i got distilled water and poured that in the setup, my reader says 8.5 when it reads the PH (don really know if its right. dont know what to test it against. any ideas?)

been reading my nutrient containers and wondering how to mix parts A and B vs the 5ish gallons of water in the container, and when to start adding. lol and when to start light cycling.

You'll definitely want to get that ph level down. For a hydro grow, you need to be something like 5.5-6.2. I'd shoot for 5.7 and see how stable it is after 24hrs. Are you using a digital ph meter?

Also you'll want to check your waters ppm.

Finally leave your water out for 24 hours before introducing to your seedlings. This will let anything like chlorine evaporate off.

Im using a digital meter (yellow and black thing posted in very last picture). i was also told it measures ppm. i have ph up and down, but it says to add to nutrient solution and not to water, wold i be wise to listen to that or can i use it to adjust my water level?

I've got the same general hydroponics ph up down kit. You can use it in water.
