Another thing about dolomite lime besides as Muddy points out about hydrated being a little dangerous to use. Dolomite has a lot of magnesium in it. Magnesium is very good as plants need it or they start sucking aluminum out of the ground and aluminum is not very good for the plant. If you are juicing the leaf or eating the leaf in smoothies you sure don't want aluminum in your body.

ok i have been looking on the net and i have been to my local garden centre and i cant seem to find hydrated lime but i can get some dolomite, will that be ok as i only smoke and use pipes/bongs:toke:
:peace:

dont over water its the most common newbie mistake, as long as the soil is moist when they are still trying to pop your good, cannabis likes a wet and then dry cycle so the roots get air. lift the pots when they are watered and then wait till you notice a substantial difference in weight before you water again, good luck on your first grow. do you have a temp/humidity monitor in your grow area?

yeah iv got a temp/humidity meter at the minute its at 26c/79f and 43% rh does this sound ok? i think i may have over watered a little as there was a fair amount of run off (oops)

nothing wrong with run off... Just let it dry up again and then water again.. I like to water to run off, as growing in promix is hydro growing...So as long as your soil dries up before the next soaking your fine...

does ground up egg shell raise the soil ph? im only on my 3rd day and iam finding it hard to get any hydrated/dolomite lime

Hardly at all it is very slow to break down buy eventually raises it a bit. What is your pH at now? can;t believe you can't find dolomite lime usually every garden centre has it.

Dolomite is slow acting and should be added to the soil before planting. In your case it will be too slow acting to effect a fast enough change in your pH, which is why I recommended the hydrated. It's also called quick lime or slaked lime. Where dolomite is often course in texture, hydrated is usually very fine, like flour.

my ph was at 5.2 - 5.3 yesterday when i checked the run off after watering i may be able to get to a few garden centres this weekend, so hopefully i will get something to help me out, thanks for the help, much appreciated

I never found that pot plants did poorly in that pH. I once lowered pH down to 3.9 to just see how bad the plant would do. I thought the plant looked wicked healthy and it grew problem free and yieled quite well. After I had lowered it to 3.9 it did rise through the weeks until it came back to a pH of 5.6 at harvest. The reason it came back is that I lowered it artificially with vinigar and the rain water washed the viniger away every time it rained. I don't think your plant is in any danger and raising it quickly or slowly won't make a lot of difference. Muddy's advice may be the way to go to quick recovery of pH but I am not sure you really need quick recovery. I don't own any lime but dolomite and it is always what I use.

Muddy and I are both good growers we just do things a little different but we both get good results. If I were you I would listen to Muddy he is far more experienced with helping new growers to the finish line. Good luck with it. I will keep my nose out of it from here in.
