I never found that pot plants did poorly in that pH. I once lowered pH down to 3.9 to just see how bad the plant would do. I thought the plant looked wicked healthy and it grew problem free and yieled quite well. After I had lowered it to 3.9 it did rise through the weeks until it came back to a pH of 5.6 at harvest. The reason it came back is that I lowered it artificially with vinigar and the rain water washed the viniger away every time it rained. I don't think your plant is in any danger and raising it quickly or slowly won't make a lot of difference. Muddy's advice may be the way to go to quick recovery of pH but I am not sure you really need quick recovery. I don't own any lime but dolomite and it is always what I use.

Muddy and I are both good growers we just do things a little different but we both get good results. If I were you I would listen to Muddy he is far more experienced with helping new growers to the finish line. Good luck with it. I will keep my nose out of it from here in.

thanks for the help nelson i really do appreciate any help/advice that is given, otherwise i probably wouldn't have been able to even start growing

Leaving you in Muddy's very capable hands. you are always free to send me a PM and I will answer you back and tell you what I know about what you ask. Sometimes it is good to get several opinions. Like the Buddha says "There are many rivers that all lead to the ocean".

That's what you need. Good to know the UK amazon has it as other UK growers have also had a hard time finding it.

got it ordered earlier so hopefully should have it some time next week i will post on here or send you a pm when i get it

do you think i should leave watering them again until i get the slaked lime?

If you can wait till you get the lime that would be best but if they need water, certainly give them some.

They look fine...soil looks moist, so hang off watering for a bit. Plants will stretch their roots into the deeper soil to find water if they sense they're a bit dry (which is good for yield), so waiting until you feel the weight of your container get appreciably lighter will significantly decrease your odds of overwatering.

That upward tilted "praying" position is a good thing.
