New Grower First grow, humbled by the experience I seek help!

Hi natty What soil you using? they still are quite small and 3ml per ltr may be too much. Whats the mix ratio for terraleaves ?

unfrtunatly just 1 to 4 points can make a differance, a meter is a good investment, what about the deformed leaves born like that or turned like that.

I think they were born that way, they always looked kind of weird.. It definitely got worst/more noticeable though.. here's an early pic, you can see one of them in the bottom left corner..

I made up my mind, I'll get a pH meter as soon as I get a chance, don't want to risk mistakes now...

I cant tell for sure, but all the new groth looks ok .....

Hi Grownbitchz!! Welcome and thanks for stopping by.

I'm using Biobizz lightmix from a 50l bag, at the bottom of each pot I have those little clay pebbles for draining. This is the internet description for TerraLeaves (I don't have the bottle near me now):

Terra Leaves from ATA is a one part liquid growth nutrient for use in soil. Complete professional growth fertiliser. Stimulates the growth of vital, large and green growth shoots. Directly soluble and fast-working. A classic Dutch soil nutrient, made to the highest standards but at a remarkable budget price.

Application: Especially for light (potting) soils. N:P:K 3:1:3.

Please consider that the last ones you see on the thread are the worst ones, the others are much bigger.. Group shot from 2 days ago below:

..so I hope I didn't overfeed them much, this is the last time I'm giving them those nutes anyhow as I'll be switching to Atazyme and Terramax from the next time on..

What do you think?

Thanks again for your help!!

BioBizz Light Mix is a soil less mix similar to Pro Mix. It does contain some starter nutes, but I would expect those to be exhausted in about 2 weeks, so light feedings would be required after that. I wouldn't suggest feeding more than 1/4 of the recommended strength. What I'm seeing looks more like a possible pH issue. Next watering capture and test the run off.

A good pH meter is well worth it. Even though they are a bit expensive, they greatly improve the odds of having a successful, high yielding grow.

Hey Muddy,

welcome back!

I'm starting to feel really guilty about yesterdays feeding.. It was the only time I gave them 3ml/l of rootfast and terraleaves, the box suggested up to 5ml.. I've been staring at them for awhile and so far so good, they keep growing steady, nothing out of ordinary.. Let's see what happens in a couple of days! From the next time on I'm supposed to switch to Atazyme and Terramax, do you have any suggested dosage?

I'll probably need to transplant them to the bigger (6.5l) pots soon.. Any pointers on how to handle it? In particular, should I do it when the soil is moist and compact? I'm sure it'll get messy!!

Finally, the temperatures here dropped quite a bit and with lights out it goes to 60F (79 w/ lights on).. while I find a proper solution (insulate the room), do you think it would feasible to have the fans turn off during dark hours to preserve the heat?

I'm running to buy the new pots and pH meter later today.. Yay for new toy!

Thanks and sorry for the million questions!!

I've not personally used those nutes, but I would suggest staying at 1/4 strength for now. After about 3 - 4 weeks you can try to up it a bit and see how they respond.

Transplanting is usually easier when the pots are dry. The soil tends to stay together better. Just try and disturb the roots as little as possible and your should be fine.

Regarding the cool temps, no, you don't want to completely shut your fans off. Even during dark hours the plants need circulation and fresh air. You've got a couple of possibilities. One is to install a variable speed controller on your fan. That way you can slow it down and keep more heat in. The other option is to add a small space heater. I use one in both my grow areas. Indoors it doesn't run much but in my outdoor box I'm drawing air from outdoors so having one is a must for lights out.

What pH meter are you planning on buying? The Hanna Combo is about the best IMO. Besides measuring pH it has automatic temperature compensation and also measures ppm, which can come in handy.

Hay natty dreadie the mix recommend ratio for terraleaves 2ml per ltr to start with & with autos I start at a quarter or half that depending on soil your using. Hope this helps

Thanks Muddy!

I'll start transplanting the ugly ones first so I can get some practice as I go. I'll probably end up doing it in two days, right before watering (day 16/17 for the plants), unless you think it's too soon?

I'll start slow on the new nutes, promised! I noticed this evening that one of my best plants has a little sign of yellowing on the bottom two leaves and I feel like a parent who has dropped his newborn.. From what I gather it could be the nutes or the pH, in both cases my fault.. Ouch! hopefully it will stop there and sort itself out, fingers crossed.

Understood about the temp issue. I was trying to avoid heaters because at night I can't keep an eye on the place and I'm afraid it might break the circuit or something like that.. I'll get a small one and set it so that it only goes on during dark hours..

For the pH meter I have to relay on my local growshop because it will be holiday starting thursday and nothing will come through the mail quick enough.. So I'm planning on getting the best they have there and they seem to be well stocked.. I'll post as soon as I get it and if they have the hanna I'll get that one for sure.

Once again, thanks for taking the time to help man, very much appreciated!

Thanks for the good advice man.. I was feeding them about .3ml/l before to be super safe and for the last dose I went way overboard.. I don't know what I was thinking!

Lesson learned though, from now on they'll be getting 1/4th the suggested dose.

Thanks for stopping by!
