Grow Room First Grow Questions

This is my first grow set-up and plan on mastering the art of autoflowering cannabis after plenty of research...

I made a grow box with PVC, Cardboard, Mylar and Gorilla Tape. It measures 3ft wide by 2ft deep by 3ft tall. Installed is a Mars Hydro 300w LED.

I plan to get seeds from ILGM, does anyone have experience with any auto strains from them?

How many plants would you grow in this space? What strains are best for micro growing with high yields?

For soil I plan to use BioBizz Light Mix + Perlite

For Nutes I plan to use GB (6-4-4) for veg weeks and TB (2-8-4) for bloom weeks.

Will these be sufficient enough to obtain good yields?

Im open to any suggestions and appreciate any input.


I've since turned the light sideways, and have installed mylar on the floor.

just a basic frame, i presume your leaving one side open or partially open and are not worried about stealth, also what are you doing for air exchange, a small clip on fan to one of the mid level pvc pipes will help with that.

As for seeds no experience with ILGM, but why not go to a reputable vendor with reputable breeders for the same price, or lower price in some cases ? The Vault is a recommended and sponsored vendor here on these forums, and they provide good service , good selection, and prices, and i can say that personally, i do other vendors as well but just saying you should check them out instead.

I added a mylar door that hangs over the front and I have been thinking about that fan idea...

I have resonated towards ILGM due to the free shipping and one of my coworkers has actually grown a fem photo from them so I know they are legit. But definitely willing to look elsewhere as their strains are very limited.

With just the one light you may be able to grow 2 but probably just one once they start hitting their growth.

I chose the light based off the standard requirement of 50 watts per sq ft.. I should have went a little taller with the grow box but with LST I hope to grow 2 Green Crack Autos by Fast Buds...

What tent size do you recommend for at least 5-6 autoflowering plants at one time?

I get that. However the actual output of the light is not 300w...closer to 130-140 but you will probably be ok to run 2 under it. Just know you may need to add another to get the best coverage.
For 5-6 plants you'll probably want at least a 4x4 tent.

Yup, found out Im pushing about 22 actual watts per sq ft right now. Im just going to run with it until I can add a second light.

Read an article that said 32 actual watts of LED per sq ft is ideal.

The amount of plants is dictated by the size of the pot, and the size of your space nothing more than that. you could run 20 plants in your space or you could run one, its all in what you want to do.

As for what size tent for 5-6 plants, i wouldn't necessarily think of the question that way but more as how much yield do you want per cycle, as that will dictate light choices, pot sizes and tent size.

I want to keep everything simple, for Im working with limited space. The goal is 2sq ft of space per plant and planting in 2 gal smart pots. I would hope for 2-3 oz per plant or atleast 1 oz per sq ft.

For my current box because of limited lighting this would mean 2 plants sharing 132w actual power in 6 sq ft. So about 65w per plant and 3sq ft of grow space in 2 gal pots.

I like the setup. I used ilgm for seeds. I got the first auto starting now. It took forever for the seeds to show up so they resent them for free... then the second batch showed up a month later for free. Got 6 seeds for 35 bucks. I will recommend them for that, but idk how their genetics are yet. Happy growing!
