I've noticed a wonderful difference now using collected rainwater and don't have to ph it. T'was as easy as puttin' a couple 5gal buckets under the edge of the roof hehe!

Hey medi, have you considered rain water collection? I have been doing that for a year now and have loved the results. The pH of my rainwater comes in about 6.3 and right at 2-3 ppm.

I've also been using rainwater and seen a massive difference, they love it! Mine is a little high around 6.8 but with some molasses and 12 hours bubbled it brings it to 6.4. I love feeding with fresh-just collected rainwater. The plants seem to perk up right after. Oh yeah, and it's completely free! :Sharing One:

I think you guys may have a good point. I took a mental health day today(read: needed to get out of the office before losing my mind) so I think I might make a rain barrel and redirect my gutters to the side of my house. The next rain day is Saturday so I'll try to get it up and going before then. I'm also considering doing a test grow with JUST my tap water which according to the reports does not have any chlorine/chloramine. I think I'll get a more recent report first. Thanks for the motivation!! I've tossed the idea of rainwater around before now but ultimately my laziness won out but with three back to back endorsements I can't ignore it anymore.

I don't think you will be dissapointed buddy. If you can hold off watering until it rains, grab some just harvested rainwater and feed them that. Just see what reaction you get, I might be imagining it but the leaves seem to pray and they have a little growth spurt when I water. I think rainwater also has trace elements in it as well as being super oxygenated.

Hey Gman, long story short is that the buds look great, and smell crazy, but the leaves have been pretty steadily dying off this entire time. And not just the fans, but the sugar leaves as well. Needless lto say I'm not heavy on ideas, but I'm treating it like a pilot, if I can just get her home and land her it'll all be fine. Between being a bit disheartened, and a hell of a case of game addiction I haven't been updating.

Any idea why the die off? My hats off to you taking on tlo/heavily amended soil straight off.
I'm finding my feet still with organics, so far the soil mix is working well. Got a nice tea bubbling as we speak.
Game addiction as in hunting or computer?

Computer :-D My best guess on why the die off is that the microbial life is dying off some point during the grow leaving no way of chelating the nutrients into the plants. I could have started soup style, but I really wanted to play out this grow as is so that I had as much data as possible for the next grow, even if that meant losing the grow, which thankfully I haven't. It's only because I did play it out that I know what the issue is so I guess my intuition paid off in that regard. The why of it was probably the acidity in distilled water so provided I never have to use it again I should be good on subsequent grows. But that's only a hypothesis and it'll take another few grows to bear out.

Anyone setting up a rain barrel, if you live in the Western U.S., should check local laws because believe it or not, in some places its against the law! The argument used is you don't own the water the " public" does and you have no right to "hoard" it. Its total BS but, a friend of mine was fined $500!!
