Halfway through flowering and building some nice (albeit small) buds my auto-flowers largest fan leafs have developed some large rust spots. They are not curling or wrinkling, simply turning brown along the veins with what little green is left between the veins.

The smaller leafs don't seem to be affected similarly although I can now see what appear to be yellowish spots on them.

If someone could let me know if this is normal or not at this stage, I'd appreciate it. My first grow and I don't want to experiment rashly with this plant for fear of compromising the crop.

Some auto strains develop a cal/mag deficiency during flowering but it could also be a nutrient lock out situation if your pH is off. Need to know more about your setup. Lights, soil, nutrients, strength of nutrients, pH of your feeds and pH of your run off. Also some pictures would be a big help.

Strength of light? How far above the plants? I got this a lot with autos when the light was too strong or too close to the tops. It gets worse rapidly. Messing with nutes and pH accelerates the problem.

Lights being too close can cause issues, but not rust spots. This is almost always a cal/mag issue resulting from either a deficiency or a pH issue unless nutrients were splashed on the leaves and magnified the light, causing burn spots. Those spots will look a bit different that the ones caused by a cal/mag issue.
