I am putting some stuff together for my second grow....and instead of going directly into my 3gl smart pot - I want to do the tier method with 40oz cups.

question:
Could I start the seeds out with Fox Farms Light Warrior (40oz cups) - then goto FFOF / Happy Frog mix for the 3gl pot? (will this shock the plants in any way?)

Or should I stick with Light Warrior as the base for my 3gl pots?

Thanks...

As a person who grew first in FFHF now growing in 50/50 FFHF/Coco Loco....this plan of action is right up my alley.

I like the idea of tiering with Light Warrior or Coco then into a FFOF/FFHF mix. I think it's a great idea.

It's a particularly desirable set-up for growing/selecting/culling reg seeds.

But if you can, tier into 5 gal. airpots instead of 3gal. - at that point, why not? (unless space is at a premium)

Edit: But if you ARE going to use FFOF, I HIGHLY suggest double checking soil pH before using. Many problems
with FFOF currently and recent past. Especially that which sources from the East Coast facility.

I have yet to run into a bunk bag of Happy Frog, but I get West Coast stuff and have limited experience.

Trapper...great - this helps me alot! I have been debating for the last few day on which direction to go. I will be growing AUTO seeds and
5gl pots would be awesome - but Im kinda already geared up for 3gl -I am expanding my grow from 16 to 20 pots.....and I might try some LST this time around too.

Hey man yea you could tier them from light warrior into your 50/50 mix if you want..also when i used to use ocean forest with my happy frog i would just dig out a hole from my 50/50 mix and fill it up with light warrior to start my seedling in that way you can start in a light mix but dont have to tier or risk shocking them somehow :Sharing One:

Yup, you could do this too, just have to be careful about how you water it, because soaking the hot mix will infuse more nutes.

Make sure to re-read my post...I added to it afterwards. :)

Thanks!
I would love to do that....and make everything easier. Except I am going to be drying / curing in my main room and starting the new seeds in a tent that a picked up on craigslist.

3 gal is plenty. That's what I used for my first grow, I actually moved down to 2 gal. for space reasons.

I will make sure to check it out first. I did buy a bag from my local guy about 3mnths ago and FFof was fine.
I know he also carries coco loco - would you suggest I do a mix with that instead ?

Not with your game plan. If you are going to start them light, you then have the luxury of getting hotter with your second tier.

IDK, it's my first experience with Coco and Coco Loco isn't like pure Coco in that it's fortified roughly the same as FFHF
and regular Coco is a blank slate. 50/50 FFHF and Coco Loco signs you up for more watering. Which is fine in my case but
may not be in yours. To my mind, the Coco just makes for easier root mass expansion.
