Hello, I would like to use Full Duplexs FF feed schedule. I tried looking everywhere local for 100% Composted Cow Manure for his custom soil with no luck this time of year. (HomeDepot, Lowes does not carry or can not order online to ship to store). Other options to get it are too expensive to ship here in Ak. I still would like to use his feed schedule though. I will be using all his other methods besides the soil. (Now: Afgan Kush Ryder, Next: Think Different).

QUESTIONS:

(1.) What should i add, and how much to tweak FoxFarm Ocean Forest it for auto's, and his feed schedule?
(Perlite, Bone/Blood meal, Epsom salt, Liquid Seaweed, Powdered Oyster Shells, ect... whatever would be best).

(2.) I was also looking at Earth Juice Amazon Bloom. Would that be a better option. How can i tweak that for Auto's, and feed schedule?.

Thank you A.F.N.

Hello and welcom, I am a very new newb myself. I was going to try FD's method also and came across exact same issues. I ended up using the FFOF here is what I discovered with the help of a GREAT DUDE on here by the name of The Squid. That FFOF had a very low pH but all I needed to get was some Dolamite lime. I found mine at a local feed store. it was actually some sort of pellets that take a few days or a week to dissolve after watering and I evened out my pH before planting. So all I added to the FFOF was perlite and Dolamite lime. I was going to use the FF trio but Squid said that feeding schedule on the bottles was not for the auto's and he asked me to hold off on giving nutes for a while. All I have to say is in the past 4 or 5 days my girls have started taking off like crazy and are looking very healthy. I am only on day 20 above soil and this is my very first grow also, so don't take my word I am sure you will get more replies but maybe it willl help. Good Luck Dude this site is awesome.

Thanks for the info wiley. How much perlite did you use? I know the soil should be pretty light. When you feed can you let me know how much and when?
I thought FD's FoxFarm feed schedule was modified for autos?.
Also on FD's soil mix I was thinking maybe i could substitute The Black Cow Manure with a slightly different compost. It has 40% composted cow manure, 40% old hay. 20% partly decayed wood chips. For more info on the compost i'm thinking about useing they have a pretty good website with everything that goes into it, (including compost analyses)
www.susitnaorganics.com Can anyone let me know if this would be a good substitute for Black Kow Manure used if Full Duplex's soil mix? Thank you

Full Duplex's Custom Soil (help)

Hello, I can not find Black Kow Composted Manure, or any 100% composted cow manure anywhere local. Ordereing online will be too expensive to Ak. Manure is the only ingredient I can not get, but i think i might have found a sub.

My question is: Can i substitute Black Kow Manure for The compost I'm thinking about useing?.

Yes, perlite is one of FD's ingredents for his soil mix. Sorry I don't know how to put his custom mix on this thread, but his soil mix is under Full Duplex GROW HEFTY SMALL PLACES.

My question was: Can I sub Black Kow Manure used in his mix with The bag I found local (susitna organics compost)?

Again sorry for the confusion and thanks for the input.

If you have a Lowes, Home Depot, or Walmart around there, you should be able to find it. Black Kow is very commonly available in the US. But, if you are not in the US... it's not important for it to be cow manure... There is something called Mushroom Compost that has composted chicken manure, which I like even better. Any composted manure you can find will work okay.

P.S. I checked up on the mix you mentioned and it looks real good... It would be very good to use as a base before adding the amendments.

I really see nothing wrong with using it if thats all you have access to,though I'm not a big fan of the wood chips
not sure if they use it for fill/weight or water retention I just don't use it in a mix:2cents:

You'll need to amend properly, as I understand "humified" compost is compost that's rich in humus.. you don't have to follow FD's recipe to a T but just recognize what he adds and why. There's a lot of T LO recipes out there,

Check out these threads -
https://www.autoflower.org/f89/tlo-super-soil-recipes-10566.html
https://www.autoflower.org/f26/tlo-layman-1585.html

If you deviate from an exact recipe you have to understand why it's in there and what you're changing. What you can remove / add to amend for the changes. Otherwise you'll cause your soil to be too rich in something or too deficient in something else. That looks like an alright base point, but the hay and wood chips are for water retention and microbe activity (there's a readily available microbe sugar source in both the hay and wood chips). According to their site the nutrient value of the compost is 6-?-? where the NPK of Black Kow is 0.5-0.5-0.5... What's in the ACS innoculant pack? I'd email and ask.

Thanks Joe Dirt, Man in a Jar, and whatsGoodie2 our hardware stores here do not carry Black Kow, or any composted manure this time of year, and does ship to store online. It's just not here local. (far northwest U.S.)
I'm gonna give the susitna organics a try, it's the closest i could get.
Should I do all the same measurements and ingredients as Full Duplex?
And FD's FF trio feed schedule?
